Shed building for dummies!

i built a 10x10 high ceiling shed for my dads house 3 years ago. 4 foot deep pillars into the frost zone, thing was built to housing code....cost less than 1K in material and a week in time to put up. We sourced used double front house doors...things absolutely great for putting a bike in cuz the entrance is so wide.

I had an 8x8 shed at my house that was wood construction and siding covered. i "renovated" it by extending one side by additional 4 feet. So now i have 3 motorcycles in there side by side with enough room for lawnmover etc etc. Best part is people dont even notice anythings been changed unless they knew what the old one looked like.

When it's all said and done you might give considerable headache, while spending the same money, to just buy a prefab. Home Depot has a lot of plastic and metal prefabs, for between $400.00 and $600.00.

Corrected.. Those flimsy metal sheds include thousands of fasteners and lots of tiny tasks in order to put them up. I put up a 10x12 and by the time it was all said and done, I regretted my decision as it would have been simpler and easier to build one from scratch. If you wanna do it right to last, dig below the frost line and set some short pillars into concrete but you can get away with gravel and patio stones but make sure you anchor the structure or the wind will take it.
