No magnets, but still pretty cool.

I don't know how much you'd have to pay me to try that for real.

Actually maybe enough beers and I might volunteer.

I already have a Race -R pro and would like another one cause I'm a ho like that.

I'll never buy a Shark, a member's lid after a spill:

Advertising works. I'd like a 6 month supply of those. Don't understand the tie-in with sharks.

Edit: Screw that. Just caught above post. That advertising must be fake.

Didn't that save his life though?

I was thinking the same thing! by the looks of the helmet he took a nasty spill

I have a friend who had his iphone ran over by a truck. He had an otterbox case, which cracked but the phone was left un scratched. Called the case a piece of crap and bought another one:violent1:

From reading the linked thread that helmet was put back together to look helmety for the photo. Apparently the whole front was ripped right off. The injuries were pretty severe. I would not have expected a good helmet to come apart like that. I hope that person is doing well today.

yowza. That's nuts. yeah, hope they're doing better.

The link above was depressing. I had a nasty fall with my Rsr2 on the street (landed on my shoulder and banged my head going about 80KMH) and 3 different track accidents with other Shark RSR2 helmets and nothing has ever came close to looking like the above pic. Anyways, not being a shark fanboy or something, but in my experience the helmets have been great.

Don't think it's fair to judge a whole brand because of the results of one terrible accident. No two collisions are the exact same, it's hard to predict what should have happened.

The only source of helmet safety ratings I know of is the Sharp site, setup by the UK government. Sharks generally score very well, http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testhelm...&sharp-type=All&sharp-rating=1&discontinued=1. That rider's RSF2i (I think that's the model at least) scored a 4 out of 5, same as Arai's lauded, and very expensive, RX-7

If no two collisions are the same why the fuss over standardized testing?

Test as much as you can, keep your fingers crossed beyond that

Shark helmets are worn by top level riders in MotoGP, and WSBK. If there were any doubts to their protectiveness that would not be the case.

If you watch MotoGP you'd know that Randy DePuniet tests his out on the regular.

MotoGP accidents, and street accidents are quite a bit different. I have been in two death defying accidents, and my cheap Scorpion EXO helmet saved me both times (bought the exact same helmet after the first crash since it did so well.) I paid $150 for this helmet, so it shows to me that it's not all about money. Also, the helmet looked pretty damn good after both accidents considering all that happened.
