Shanny mon

Alright, so for anyone's first time at SMP Long, I'd say that wasn't half bad... A lot, if not all, new riders turn in early and definitely have low consistency each time around, but that takes time to develop. My first year out I remember speaking with a Pro rider telling me where to turn in at turn 2 and I was like "you want me to do what?!?" lol.

Also, throttle control coming out of corners, i.e., rolling off the throttle at or slightly after the apex, is a definite sign you got the line wrong. I shudder to think of reviewing the vid of my first TD there, probably not much better. But this is good material for learning one's mistakes and making sure you know where to improve next time out.

Having said that, I thought he rode pretty considerately not getting in others' way or blowing corners as a lot of liter bike riders do first time out.

Definitely jealous about the weather... :banghead:

Nobody commented on the giant blue angora sweater on his brake reservoir. I am disappoint.

Video from another session:

I again make a few cameos, at 17:14, went through the pits and appeared again at 21:50 shadowing Jamie to pass a pile of bikes all in one go. :) My buddy Gary on his Aprilia RS 250 at 22:33, my buddy Ian on his RC-51 at 25:20... 34:52 is Ryan, fellow I lent my older FAST suit to (I am now wearing the Velocity kangaroo suit, you see right at the end of the video when I'm talking with TomC). Probably lots I missed, just glancing at the video from time to time.

This is nearly a 40 minute session, to give people an idea how Shannonville's own track days can be.

I never said I was going, but I was thinking about it. glad weather held out for you guys.

Be fair... it was his first time there. First time on an actual race track, too.

The amount of suspension travel in the front fork video supports my contention that Shannonville is deteriorating into a motocross track ... The horrendous chatter bump that I've mentioned in the chicane, is visible in that video, plain as day.

I think Jamie did fine for first time there, and improvement was visible lap after lap. Nothing wrong with that. Looks like lap times were around 2:15 with a 2:11 on the last lap ... looks like a number of riders out there were slower than that, I don't think there was a single lap in which he was not affected by a slower rider ... not bad at all for first time there for a track-day rider.

If you pause the first video posted at 16:39 his lap timer says the lap he just did was a 2:08.67

5 frame grabs run through Lightroom/HDR:

In the second video posted the lap timer says he's setting world record pace every sector, then shuts off, so not sure about the accuracy anyway

I went by the time index on the video as he passed a landmark (the end of the wall just past start/finish), not the lap timer ...

Ahhhhhhh fancy :) Would be cool if youtube would implement an auto lap timer when you upload vids, just count between every time you pass the same spot... hmmmm. feature request time!

If only you could speak to Jamie and find out what happened eh?

edit: wow Shaman you pass like a madman!

I know where the camera bike is... so I kept going into the pits to pass him again. LOL

But really, there were some really fun passes that day, I wish I had my GoPro.

I just got myself a new Ipod and that laptimer (harry's laptimer) I am wondering why did the damn thing shut down? any experiences with that laptimer?

From his facebook group (east end riders): "Finally got the track timer workin good :) Guess I hadn't rebooted my iPod in a few months so it needed it."

Well that certainly sounds plausible...got any bridges for sale in New York? I'd be interested.

LOL... Just curious, how hard is it to not end your post with "-Jamie M."?
Must be annoying, eh?
