Shannonville Track Day

Let me know, I'd definitely do some. I think I did one with you way back in... 2004?

Not Me !!!
After 20min I'm thankful for the 40min break. (smoking a red meat diet with a blood stream made of coffee). Lol
I did 1 hr straight during an endurance race and it was not easy but probably the best I could have ever done for my riding ability and skill.

With this type of track day, having the ability to go on track anytime you want and stay as long as you want, will most likely slow you down and actually make you practice and pay attention and try to improve instead of feeling like you have to go all balls out because you only have 15 or 20 min.

I'd like to see anyone do 3 hours straight at Shannonville. Your legs would be like rubber. 20 minute sessions are enough to get your legs screaming.

Eh, I like to go until I'm tired. That's what SHE said, too.

The advantage to this type of track day is that you can go out and do 5 laps and come back in to make an adjustment/setup change then head right back till your tired.

I guess, but I find it more enjoyable to have it spread out throughout the day. To each their own I guess.

It just makes it easier to feel the changes because you don't have time between. I wasn't trying to say its a better format just pointing out one of the advantages.

Most i've done is 1:45. Over the course of the past 3 years or so i have been toying with the idea of running a complete 3 hour endurance race with SOAR solo. This would be a great test to see if i could do it.

When I did my very first track day it was an open format and I went out with a full tank and came back in when the light came on and did that 3 times. The next morning I was toast, I could barely move.

I've done a 50min stint in an endurance race with the rearsets adjusted for a much smaller Englishman and it was excruciating. I guess 3hrs would be possible but I think it would be very hard not to push the pace and get tired early.

How do you know you won't prefer it if you've never tried? Beauty part of no sessions is you just go out as you can. I've done mosport and bogie this way and although it's tiring you really get a feel for what's right or wrong. I struggle with some corners and sometimes waiting 40 minutes to go try something else doesn't work for me. Plus it takes away the "Have to be out there or miss the session fear". Esp on the big tracks where you may only get 5-7 effective laps.

I'd be interested depending on the final numbers allowed on track

Yeah endurance racing is a different beast. It's as much mind as it is body. I have been endurance racing for a few years now, and there is no way i would have tried it during my first or second season. Even if the body could take it, the mind would not have been ready.

Thanks everyone for the response. With the numbers that everyone is sharing, it looks like this will work out.

I will be updating the first post with new information, please keep your eyes out.

Thanks!
