Shannonville Track Day

Showtime

Member
Hello,

I put together over 8 track days together three years ago and i will be doing the same again this summer.

The way it worked back then will be the same again this year. Once the weather warms up, i will announce a date in May.

It will be on a Wednesday Night from 500pm - 700pm (we were able to ride from 430pm to past 7pm sundown but no guarantees until i get confirmation of date and riders).

I would expect to have all riders arrive for 4pm to sign paperwork and have a track meeting.

This is not a group track day session so you can get on and off the track as you wish. The typical cost is $100 per rider.

Conditions:

You will need all proper safety riding gear (ie full leathers, gloves, helmet, boots)
Bike DOES NOT need to be a TRACK BIKE - these details can be discussed with myself
Bike needs to be in safe working condition
I also bring out a photographer so you may get pictures taken at a low cost

The time allotted on the track is more then enough and you don't need to miss a full day of work for this event.

I will add more information as we get a little response from this thread:

1. We will be riding the FABI track.
2. I have created a new thread for the first track day date(s) http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...e-Track-Day-May-29-2013&p=1996344#post1996344

Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Raamy

No, sorry.
Ok, thanks for answering. I've seen them run some late evening track days before so wasn't sure :)

Having never been to Shannonville and there being no sessions/groups I don't think it'd be for me :(

Do you mind elaborating more on your comment about sessions/groups and why it wouldn't be for you?

I do take people around the track to make them feel more comfortable and show them the race line. Dont think this is just an individual thing, it is all a nice friendly atmosphere.

That's great!! Let me know the dates and I will post them up to a large group of people. Take On The Track has decided not to do any evenings this year so I guarantee I can get you some local interest from some good riders, if that helps.

Ahhh, It's good that you take new people around :)

I've only done 4 track days so far (all at TMP), and am in the slow part of the yellow group. There was a time at TMP where there weren't many riders so they just ran open sessions, and the speed difference between myself and more advanced riders was pretty insane. I wouldn't want to hold people up or create unsafe situations on the track, especially because I'm not used to being passed at a great speed difference/aggressively, etc.

Honestly if that's holding you back from coming I'll be upset. This is an open track day do everyone. It's safe and there will be a lot of respect out on the track.

I'd be happy to take you out and show you the ropes as I bet others wouldn't mind doing the same as well.

This sounds good. I think I'll be able to swing by for a couple of Wednesday evenings too. Shannonville will be a new track for me too though.

Alright, sounds good. It's the same distance from me as TMP so I'm down :)

Count me in

You should go. It's apparently a very easy-going atmosphere, less hard core speed freaks than on your usual track day. I met a guy there once during daytime trackday who was a regular evening rider. He said he was one of the faster ones in his usual group but during the day he was only average. It could actually be a good chance for you to learn the track. Just be prepared to rotate your tires because Nelson chews up the right side pretty quick.

Damn, all I got tread left on is the left after TMP chewed up my right side :(

Not sure how safe it is to flip the S20's??

Thought I'd chime in here....

I've known Raamy (Showtime) for years now, we used to live down the street from each other in Pickering. I did a few of the days in 09 and they were very organized and well run. Everytime I was out we rode Fabi. It's a good way to get seat time in and crunch out lots of laps. We also rode right to sun down.

It's too bad I'm further away from Shanny now or I'd be sure to make it out.

Have fun!

Depending on the dates, I'd be interested.
Evening track time also gives me time to get up there from Niagara.
Keep us posted!:)

Shannonville isn't that bad. I still got down to 1:52 around the long track without trying hard at all. Couldn't, too much traffic and October temps. It's really not as rough as a few people are making it out to be. It *looks* it, though...

I realized at the end of 2012 I spent a total of four hours on Shannonville. Will have to spend a bit more time there this year, but Calabogie, Mosport, Grattan and NYST are on my schedule too...

I'll keep checking this thread for a date, I'm doing the Fabi track with Rider's Choice on June 26th, so if it's not the same day I should be good to go.
