Shady sellers and time wasters

I have an 2 inch crack in my fairing and a one inch crack on my tail fairing from my 12 yo nephew smaking it with a baseball bat. (Dont ask, long story!)

So lets assume i do not repair this and i want to sell. (Which i Dont) Is the buyer going to think it was laid down? Or by looking at the rest of the side of the bike can he tell? I mean i can tell by looking at the rest that it never laid down.

PS: every bike i sold i have done a cold start, the buyers really appreciate it and it leads to a quick sale.

I would think an experienced rider will notice the difference between cosmetic damage, low speed rash or high speed crash. You usually can tell the rashes of a slide for the rash marks will be consistent on the bar ends, clutch levers, fairing, engine cover, etc.

Newbies tend to nip-pick on cosmetic damage more. The last one I sold, I specifically said in my ad I low-sided the bike at low speed, and all damages were repaired (got invoices as proof) and they still wanted to knock down the price by a huge margin as if I totalled the bike.

Do what i do sometimes.

Ill list a bike for 7,000 firm and some dude will ask if i'll take 6,000. I say sure, minus the rims front and back along with tires, sprockets, rotors etc...
If you wanna pay 6 grand you can have 6 grand worth of stuff.

So drop it another 50 for him, just take 100 - 200 worth of **** off your car and resell it. :lmao:
He's actually coming on Sunday for the car. If he stars negotiating again, I will just crawl back in my bed

Last car I sold ended up going for $1100 off my asking price. The asking price was $1500. I had put over $4k into it over the previous year.

I end up dropping alot, almost $1700. Then he started to try & talk me down $50 again. I should've hang up on him

It feels as if he wanted it for free

He just feels like you're able to reduce another $50, so why not try?
I deal with this all day every day.

Don't be afraid to tell people to stop playing games/wasting your time, some of them need a rude awakening.

I dont think I can do that for a living

I saved myself a lot of time and aggravation by selling my cbr below market value. Was up and up on everything I did with the bike. I still got tire kickers, "experts", no-shows and just dumb people (looking at you "deez nutz"). I really liked telling low ballers to meet up at night, alone, and with cash near jane/finch.

Salespeople are creepy in general. Having worked in sales for a while I noticed that most of them are miserable, **** talking, hustlers who would step on their own mothers just to get ahead. Personally I try to avoid these people like the plague. Just try to work the best deal you can and gtfo!

Ugh....agreed. I work as a Tech and we have three sales people. One in particular would gladly sell his own daughters for sexual pleasure if it would close the deal....Funny really, our VP was shooting the **** with us and telling us how a desperate sales guy from another company was literally begging for business, and how it was sickening, spineless and how we never stoop to such levels. Not even 4 hours later i over hear our sleaze ball sales guy try to guilt trip another sales guy out of sale by quote "sure, you know...my kids dont have to eat or go to college..."

This is also the POS who asks you for a project completion date and you tell him it will be done at the earliest in 3 weeks...I then have customers calling for their machines 2 weeks later....the ****!? Well your sales guy said it will be done today.....

This is pretty much right, I am a professional sales weasel and have been doing this for 25+ yrs. Its not for everybody, but everybody thinks its easy, I get "oh a salesguy? that must be hard, home at noon on friday, dont leave the house till 9am, think because your phone is on your at work.." Damn skippy thats how it is because what idiot wants to work 40hrs and drive in rush hour and get dirty? Cant expense dinners, golf, Jay's tickets or strippers when your the installer. Thats for the lowly sales scum.
Most fun out of my job is watching non professional sales people selling stuff.

Without the 3 sales people you won't be working as a tech.

I support a sales force of 125 people.
To say it's a challenge is putting it mildly.

A lot of them are sleazeballs.. wouldn't turn my back on them for a second. However, they do fantastic things for the company and the rest of us wouldn't be in business if it weren't for them!

People underestimate how difficult a job in sales really is. It is a skill, and a really good sales man would have sold you the minute you walked in the front door/picked up the phone - you just wouldnt know it.

I despise selling stuff so much I think I take less just to save myself ongoing hassle. I don't know why but so many buyers automatically assume that I'm desperate for money and will take anything. So sick of getting emails with ridiculous offers but they have cash and will take it home today if I accept. I just ignore those now because I know the person will be a dick to deal with.

Actually, i would...They are sales for a different department, our VP sells equipment, they sell consumables...The other two sales people are great, and in fact they hate that one guy just as much as me and the rest of the team does...you dont HAVE to be a sleaze ball to sell...in fact, customers appreciate honesty, and i pride on being honest with my customers....thats why they call me and ask me for my opinion, because they know i will tell them the truth, whether that brings a sale to my company or not.

The problem is that customers get the story from the sales sleaze, who can then blame Service for the 'screw up.' I've seen it happen more times than I can count.

Also, more than a few sales managers would be more than happy to see their 'widgets', boxes, whatever head out the door and never come back. It doesn't matter if it's a motorcycle, that needs regular service, because they see service as a cost rather than a source of income.

I did that once. Offered $5000 via e-mail on a clean low miler. Was asking $5500. I said consider it sold at $5000 and meant it. Didn't hear back. Tried again. Finally got rude response. For a long time I thought he was a dick but later realized I was dick in his eyes. Lesson learned.
