Serpa (formerly Open Road) BMW in Newmarket

Cry me a river. You are a troll. Grow up.

They sized him up. BMW does not care because someone looking to buy a BMW WILL buy a BMW.

WOW! Entitlement run rampant.
So he want to ride the bike for free AND have a free lunch.
You do know they have to PAY staff for those events and PAY for gas and PAY for wear items to maintain those bikes.
By essentially charging $20 they get rid of the cheapskates that spend valuable time going from test ride to test ride.

There are so many other areas to have issues with a Dealership but they DID tell you about the charity event before so when you arrived and they said $20 PLUS you are getting food and drink yet you keep harping on this.

I asked a friend about this who is in the business. Let me break it down for you.
$15 Staff - per 2 ppl per demo ride (30 min)
$2 for food and drink
$3 for the gas you used
-X$ for maintenance of bikes
-X$ for replacing parts

So what was the charity for again?

So, just out of curiousity here...given that you knew it was a charity event (of course we don't have to link the definition of 'charity' I'm guessing, yes?), how much money did you show up with to donate?...

I did not know it was a charity event. Once again, if you would read the initial post I said I was told there was a BBQ for charity going-on. That is what Cray told me. He never told me that the demo ride itself was a charity event, rather that, along with it, there was a bbq for charity.

This is a review, in the review forum, so people know what happened; people are entitled to feel/think whatever they wish of what happened. It isn't a thread set-up to discuss my money.

Obsess much? This was over a month ago. Move on and enjoy life. You sound like a business's worst nightmare.

Right. Because I am the one going to the review forum to find month old threads to reply to to criticize the reviewer. You sound like someone who is okay with getting screwed over.

BMW loses customers every day for things worth more than $20, or $20,000 motorcycle.

If youre not willing to donate 20 to be invited to a day like that. Then you don't deserve any respect and who cares what was miss communicated!!!! 20 bux is a deal to eat some food, ride some of the nicest bikes and have knowledgable people there for the day

If you're that right with money. BMW is not your brand. Some people call that being a poser.

Just saying.

Man. So many idiots on here who need to learn how to read. That or they have not actually read my original post.

It's a review guys. Deal with it.

Who wants to buy a bike from a company that cant even get thier headlights to match?? Buy a Yamaha.... Never been disapointed yet. When everyone else out there has a demo day for free (yes you need a test ride to see if its right for you) and Company B want a "Charity Donation" so they look good in the eyes of the public, I would stay clear of these elitest retailers. Look at other charities, like United Way.... Their CEO makes a pretty good pay cheque 3 times what I earn, and the operating costs are astounding. Dont get me wrong, some of their causes are worthy but others I dont agree with. This dealer is doing the same, I can bet on it. I did a harley demo this summer and they had FREE RIDES and the food, if you bought it, was for charity. Class act from a real motorcycle retailer.

Sorry for the rant, haven't had my coffe this morning....

Evidently, many people do.

We get it.... Bad bad CRAY. BMWs image is tarnished FOREVER!

Feel better now?

Palmdude-hope you don't mind me reviewing your review...:p

Funny, if he did tell you or there was a mis-communication he exhibited more integrity by sticking to his guns...I'm pretty sure he realizes he needs to have you leave with a smile not a frown in order to sell you a bike. I doubt that his first priority is raising money for Charity at the expensive of selling bikes...
Your first thought after refusing to cough up $20 for Charity is to blast the business on the web...Yes - you would be easy to keep happy, loyal and would have sent them a million customers over the next 30 years...:confused2:

If I am buying a car/bike whatever at a dealership, or I may very well be, I expect to receive a certain level of customer service. They want my business, they have to be nice or I can go elsewhere. I am in sales. I work to earn and keep my customers business or they go elsewhere no matter how stupid or ignorant or wrong they may or may not be. There is no entitlement. This thread is about a person's negative experience with the customer service at this dealership, not with BMW cars. You don't have to agree with it, but it is not up for debate. He's not happy, he told the fact's, if you are okay with that happening to you, disregard this review. Why are there so many dumb people on here arguing this?

If you're in sales then you should know there's two sides to every story.

I'm in a sales role as well so does that make a difference?

The only dumb people on here are the ones who think this thread is about BMW cars. :lmao:

Actually....it IS.

This is a public forum....not his diary.

If the guy is crying about $20 at a BMW dealership I am going to guess the sales guy probably felt it's best to have him buy his bike from somewhere else. Think of the horror and reviews he would face if something was not just perfect i.e. they put 1 less psi of air in his tires.
BMW is a luxury brand and as such they want customers that are not cheap or behave in a manner that cheapens their brand.

I am sure that salesguy has heard MANY times I will be back in 2 months with 5 friends to buy 6 bikes from you.
The old saying, money talks and ...

I certainly don't think Cray intentionally lied to him by omitting the $20 donation.
Who would you spend your time servicing as a salesperson?
The 25 people that handed over the $20 with a smile or the 1 guy that was complaining about $20 to demo ride a $20k BMW.

teehee new grad syndrome.
