Selling Bike ... What are some places?

Hey Guys!

First of all, Apologies if this is somewhere in the forum, I tried to do multiple searches and came up with nothing, so here goes...

I crashed my bike last summer and It was mostly cosmetic (front assembly, birdcage and fairings need replacement - also my radiator might be leaking, not sure). Anyway, I got a quote from couple people to get it repaired and it's costing me at least $1000 or around there.

I cannot afford that at this point, so I am looking to sell my bike in the condition it is in (pics below)

My Question: Where can I sold my bike in a little beat up condition and get a good price.
(I have additional Chinese fairing set - if that makes a difference)

So far, I have heard Kijiji and a Salvage yard. If anyone could let me know names of places where I could, It would be much appreciated!!

Bike: 2002 Kawi Ninja ZX-6R
About 26k on it

There isn't a place where you can sell for the most price, it really depends on your luck and timing.

The only place i have ever looked for a bike was on kijiji and in the Buy/Sell here at GTAM.

Thanks for the reply!

But don't most people on Kijiji prefer bikes that are in 100 % working condition?
I haven't seen any that have problems, at least problems enough not to run on the road.

Advertise everywhere you can. Kijiji, Autotrader, local newspaper or flyers on walls even. The more eyes that see your ad the better your chances are.

That being said, be prepared to be low balled on the price. Most people will not look twice at a crashed bike unless they are looking for a parts bike. If there was any way you could afford to do some repairs and get it certified and back on the road your chance of getting a decent price is much higher.

Yes most people prefer bikes that aren't crashed but there are ones looking for the right bike at the right price that requires some handy work.

Just curious what kinda price are you thinking the bikes worth as it sits now ? you can toss the bike on kijiji the way it is and after you weed past the BS low ball offers maybe someone will offer you a decent price and you can unload the bike and not waste time and more money trying to fix it.

You can try tossing a race fairing on it and sell it for track days.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Agreed on I should advertise everywhere and see what I get. Yeah, guessing people are going to take advantage of this and low ball the sh*t out of me. Also, sucks that I am not skilled enough to part it out, or i am sure I would make more money

Honestly, I have no idea. I mean its mechanically fine and everything. I just don't know though. I am hoping anything 1k ++ (hoping:rolleyes:)

Put your brain in gear! Search Kijiji for the same model for average price, google "blue" book prices, figure out a price and advertise as set out above. Stop being a victim and get out victimizing!!

Problem with that is its not in mint condition.

Remove the fairings use some rad seal crap in the coolant. Sell it on kijiji as a one of a kind custom naked bike that is mint. Also jack the price real high and say your almost giving it away and won't last long.

Or just throw it up being as honest as possible and just leave the price as best offer. I did this with one of my cars and I got a ton of low offers but ended up getting way more than I wanted.

Did this bike used to be parked at Humber North?

You won't get much for it at a salvage yard...they usually give you about $100-150 for a car.

Be completely honest about what happened.
Be completely honest about what needs to be repaired.
If you think there's roughly $1000 in repairs (and there is no frame damage?) then expect to take ~$2000 off of a similar year/km bike.

Nope, not in humber or anywhere close.

I did a look around and stuff, looks like around $1000-2000 (the higher the better, obviously) is what I should be looking to get. Already got a 1k offer.

What do you guys think its worth is? As a neutral. Like, what would you pay? (IF u had to buy, I know most won't, but just a rough estiamte)

$1000-$1500... Depending on if the rad is damaged.
I would just remove the fairings, throw on a streetfighter headlight, and clean up the bike. Take some nice pictures and sell it. You'd probably get more than trying to sell with ******* fairings.

there was a guy with one just like it...matte black with the green accents.

As for price you'll be lucky to get about $1500.
Is it really out of the question for you to get it fixed for $1000?? Do you not have insurance? If you can afford to own and operate a bike it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a grand...then again I have no clue of your situation and won't make assumptions.

You say you have an additional chinese fairing set....
So, take of the broken crap, put on the additional set. Keep the broken bits in case the whomever buys it decides they want to try their hand and fixing it one way or another.
Get a list of the damage. Break down the repair costs per item and give a $3-500 credit for buyer's labour/run around time (depends on what all needs to be done of course).
So, formula would be:
Fair price
- Parts
- Labour credit
= Fair price.

Would suggest that if you get $2250-2500 you'd be doing well.

Parting out is easy. Repairing is the hard part. All you need to know how to do is put a socket on a bolt and turn it for the most part.
