Selfish bike parking

Riding down to Duncan at Adelaide this morning I saw a row of bikes with one and a half space at the end, so I did the sensible thing and parked MY bike at the post to allow for one whole space left for the next guy.

Coming back to the bike at the end of the day, I find a <insert profanity> old cruiser parked in there with an inch clearance to my bike, such that I could not even STAND MY BIKE UP!!

<start rant>
What kind of selfish bastard does that? There was ample room on the other side of his bike yet he was likely too lazy to bother, and in his parking job he even moved my right side mirror.

Kudos to the guy on the Ducati who ended up helping me stand up this cruiser so I could slide my bike out. But SHAME on the selfish and lazy cruiser guy who almost got me stuck (yeah, could've gotten a coworker to come out and do the same thing, but alas...)
<end rant>

How come you have pictures of the same guy parked wrong twice? Is he a friend of yours? Are you trying to teach him how to park (0-60 degrees from the curb not 90-130)?

How did the cruiser guy get on his bike after the ss parked so close? Did he have to straddle the ss to do it?

Pull his plug wire and shove paper in the cap and replace. Good deed for the day!

Just make sure you're targetting the right guy. Sometimes someone will move another's bike to make room for themselves. Maybe that person came then left and the guy blocking you had nothing to do with it.

Wow that is really horrible, I know were all adults here but if i didnt kick the bike down I would at least put a note in between his back grill! Man i would be so furious. Makes you think how the hell he got off.

I would never touch somebody's bike, but I swear if I came out and this cruiser had parked that close to me, his bike would be on the ground accidently. Because I don't know how to ride very well.

I wont touch anyone else's bike either, but if they park like that, I will be moving their bike. My friend does this to me all the time, just to bug me. Thankfully he never locks his steering.

People seem to be assuming that it's the cruiser that parked last in this picture and not the ss, but do we actually know that?

Not terribly important obviously, but maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions (ranting about the cruiser rider or wondering how he/she got off the bike after parking it).

It doesn't matter to the argument. It's not a photo of the OP's situation, so no one's speculating who parked first in this photo...it was only used as an example of two bikes parked so close together as to cause issues.

Absolutely and it's great pic.

It does, however, seem that at least 2 people are assuming that the cruiser is at fault in this particular pic and they are not referring to the OP's experience. That's what ticked me off (and I'm not even a cruiser owner).

i would love to see a video on how that cruiser parked so close and was able to get off...

A guy at work used to park his POS Hardly like that; right up against your bike such that you'd have to walk it on an angle before you can climb on. Douchebaggery at its finest. Thank god he retired.

Actually its common sense. I couldn't have parked my gixxer beside the cruiser because I couldn't get my bike of the stand without hitting his bike. Which means I would have had to back up and park with my bike leaning on an angle. I actually had to carefully take my bike off the side stand and walk the bike forward until I was able to stand the bike up properly get on. That ****** me off. Suppose i wasn't able to manage the weight of the bike and dropped it? Thats just selfish oh the cruisers behalf.

Why would the biker on the inside make life harder for himself by parking so close, when the other guy could just stand his bike up and ride away no problem? Even as a gag it would be a failure. It's obvious that in any situation like this, it's the guy who's bike is leaned over top of the other one that was last to park.

Ah, good point. Clearly I didn't pay enough attention to the photo.

I'm just waiting for the owner of the bike to chime in here and say "Hey, thats my bike!" I know he's probably a member of this board.
