See, a Grom is plenty big enough!

It takes the body of a young man to do what that kid did. I saw a guy riding a Grom this summer. It reminded me of the old Honda CT70, very physically small. I'm not really sure what the point of it is. Yamaha will destroy the Grom if they put their new Resonator 125 into production. Just kill it. I mean, who in the right mind will get a glorified mini-bike instead of a Resonator?

Will it? I can't see the Resonator being anything but more expensive than the Grom, and it's still limited by an air-cooled 125. You can't get blood from a stone. So how big is the market for a 4-5K bike that can't keep up with traffic on the highway?

The furthest I have gone on a single cylinder 500cc bike was to Battle Creek Michigan. It wasn't that bad.

Not bad at all, less than 600 km. I recently rode to NJ alone on my 250, about 1000km one way and did it in about 10 hours. Going I stopped once to eat at Rochester Timmies, and twice for gas. Came back through Pennsylvania and didn't even stop to eat or rest til I got to St. Catherines at about 9 after having a nice breakfast and leaving Jersey at 11ish am, only 3 gas stops in the US. I just felt so comfy and relaxed on my bike despite it not being the stock upright set-up. Got home and felt good enough to take my dogs out for a nice walk. Hadn't seen the little ****ers in a while.

Funny I just googled hipsters with peach fuzz and got lucky with the Resonator. And now I see it in this thread. Is that serenhipidipity or what?

i used to have a 125 and i still don't understand the market for a grom, are they for children or midgets or a pitbike for games/sites?

I've toured on a lot of bikes. Longest distance was to Texas on a bmw s1000rr. I would not do it on my Grom.

You can tour on anything, it all comes down to what you can put up with.

As for the from being "plenty big enough", well I would not say plenty or big enough, just loaded up. Each to their own, if you enjoy touring on a small little bike then great! I personally would not do a trip like that on a bike like that... but that is just me. People load up on make shift rafts or bathtubs to cross seas, does not mean it is the best way to travel, but whatever works.

Saw a guy who must have weighed 250lbs (fat) riding a Grom on Bayly in Ajax this summer. His wallet chain was almost dragging on the ground. It looked comical.

I see no joy in spending day after day at the rev limiter. I started riding on a cbr125, they now scare the hell out of me.
