Screwed

Lost my end cap and restrictor off of my TB pipe this weekend. I wear earplugs so I have no idea where I lost them.

I'm pretty sure it was that orange ring you see in the picture. It's the gasket that came with the restrictor which was a thick rubber ring when I put it in and screwed the cap tight to the gasket. Looks like the gasket melted, loosening everything up.

So warning to people with the P1X that use the supplied gaskets. Had to order new parts from Tony.

It happens. Check them when you wash the bike. A little Loctite blue, on non-heated parts, goes a long way to simplifying your life too.

Should they? no. Will they? yes. When removing things put blue loctite on any bolt that just threads into metal (clamps excluded, triple clamps, shift linkage clamp, pinch bolt etc.). The only thing i havent found a solution to is fairing bolts that want to vibrate loose, i had a bad experience using loctite on a fairing bolt that just goes into a rubber grommet, apparently blue loctite expands a bit, and it cracked the fairing. So dont use it for that either lol.

A guy rides a KLR, is concerned about loose life saving bolts, and choose the name Tdotmurderer...

The name comes from xbox live which I got so i could play halo. It's just easier to remember 1 handle. And I kill and eat hookers.

Keep it away from plastics and rubber. It's fine wherever it's metal to metal and it needs very little, to do the job.

well i figured technically theres a piece of metal in the rubber lol. Yeah i found out the hard (See expensive) way not to use the stuff anywhere near fairings.

The bolts on my headlight surround, tail, and signal pods are all secured with Blue. No problems. Like I said, it doesn't take much. If there's a little in the threads, then it'll do the job. People make the mistake of thinking that they need a huge glob of the stuff.
