A man who got hit by a bus while making a left turn on his scooter has posted first-person footage of the incident to YouTube.
Mark Jarder, 23, told Metro he was turning onto Cambie Street from Broadway westbound on Tuesday when the driver of the bus ran a stale yellow light and clipped him.
"The first thing that went through my mind was, 'Wow, I'm flying,' and at that point everything went into slow motion," Jarder told Metro.
The video, taken from a GoPro camera mounted on Jarder's helmet, shows the contact and its aftermath. Jarder is sent flying into the street a considerable distance from his scooter.
Metro quoted TransLink spokesman Derek Zabel as saying the incident is still under investigation, and the bus driver has not been suspended.

instead of paying attention to the colour of the light, how about paying attention to a f**king bus that's coming towards you!!!! It's not f**king rocket science!!!!

No kidding - holy crap. Any bus, let alone a double, can't exactly stop on a dime.

First of all it's his responsibility to check if the road is clear. Second it looks like he tried to beat the bus but he may have had time to break and let the bus pass through.

totally scooter at fault, yellow means to some drivers "SPEED THE F--- UP!", and they also still have right of way lol

i love how people jumped on and help right away though, instead of the bystander effect where everyone just watches and no one helps.

he "ran" a yellow? You cant RUN a yellow....

Rider's fault for crossing the intersection without waiting for all cars/buses to slow down/stop first. This happen to quite a lot of new drivers/riders, they expect once the light goes yellow, you're good to continue through the intersection......

He wears more gear then I do ... LOL! I guess that is a good thing seeing as how he likes to play chicken with buses ....

What a buffoon. I drive a city bus, so I was interested to see this video. People do this to me daily, I guess they think I can stop a 40ft bus on a dime. They're really tempting fate. Nevermind the fact that a bus needs more time to stop than a car, if people are standing up on the bus it's very dangerous to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision or to stop for a yellow light.

Never stretch out your arms to brace the fall.

That tends to be human nature... Unless, you've faceplanted everytime you've fallen as a kid...

I agree. But you can learn yourself to ball up. Worked nicely at 80kms/hr couple years back. Former MX rider.

That guy was riding like a tool but those pedestrians kicked *** at helping him. Left his helmet on, didn't let him get up, picked up his scooter and called 911 in about 10 seconds. And then there was magically an EMT behind him instantly.
