What happens between you and some other member of this website ... is between you and that other member.

Our only concern is that the posts that you write on this website, are in accordance with the rules that you agreed to when you signed up. Nothing more.

If someone scammed you, then take it up with them via the proper channels - be it police, lawyers, courts, out-of-court settlement, or whatever. It's not up to us (moderators, administrators, etc) to get involved.

Wouldn't banning a known scammer be in the best interest of the website as well as the honest members that make up this website?

It's a sketchy line to draw, there's always two sides to every story and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the one that listened to both and had to determine which one gets kicked out.

OP could post his experience and let the other person respond (or not respond) and let community sentiment determine the outcome. In the past this has backfired on some members as they weren't nearly as innocent in the sketchy transaction as they felt.

Based on what evidence? I doubt GTAM has either the resources or desire to act as mediator between two aggrieved parties. I also doubt they want to make themselves responsible to any degree for the transactions that occur every day here. The classifieds section works best "as-is" with no assurances from the board.

Its rare that a scammer just does their thing once, usually they run the same scam over and over again...

True, but you can also get 'cliques' of people on the forum, and if they all decide to accuse someone of something to get rid of him... basically bullying. Best for GTAM not to get involved.

...and no, I'm not the scammer! :)
