Safety & Plates

I bought my bike in the winter and I now need to get my saftey done. I have a question. The lady at the office told me I would have to tow it to get a safety. But If I have insurance can I get a plate and then a temporary sticker to go get my safety. I don't want to go stand in a line to ask my question..... anyone out there know?
Thanx

They only give temp plates between title transfer. Your bike is likely registered to you now as UNFIT which means it cant go on the road until it is safetied.

Call Ted at Rosey Toes he'll come to your house to do a safety...

Got a plate from your last bike with good stickers?

Not the cleanest way of doing it but.. if the bike is road worthy a quick jaunt to the nearest garage to get the cert done isn't unheard of. Not entirely legal either, but it happens all the time.

You can get 2 temp stickers per year per vehicle. Go get the temp sticker and ride to rosey toes.

Depends on the status of the vehicle according to the ownership papers. On the top of the ownership, it should show the code "MCL - FIT" (i.e. Motorcycle - Fit) before MTO will consider issuing a temporary plate for road use (10 days limit). If the ownership says "MCL - UNF" (i.e. Motorcycle - Unfit), then MTO will not issue a temporary license under any circumstances before a safety certificate is issued; and you'll have to transport the motorcycle to the mechanic's who will safety the vehicle, not ride it there.

As one poster pointed out, you can take a huge chance and plate the vehicle with another registered license. I, personally, can't recommend this practice. However, make sure if you do, get insurance FIRST, make sure the bike is truly road worthy SECOND and don't get caught by the police THIRD.

Best of luck.

Thank you everyone! I had to register it Unfit. I was upset when I had to - I thought "my bike is Not unfit". "it's totaly roadworthy". But it makes sence now. I understand. Not sure if I should call ted rosey, he is in the west and I'm in the east. May be too far, but doesn't hurt to give him a call I guess.
Cheers

I've had one of my bikes safetied at Pickering Village Motors (905-686-6926) and been happy with their service and price. They are located at the corner of Kingston Road and Church Street in Ajax. I don't know if this is close to you. I also recently safetied my most recent bike at my local Canadian Tire. I was again satisfied with the speed of service and price ($80).

Search Rosy Toes on this forum. He will come to you to perform the safety. No need to two or dick around with unregistered plates, etc
