Planning on getting papers processed over here at Seneca this week.
We get about 500/semester to work with + any other funding the student fedration can provide. We've got a huge parking lot with a lot of space. I'm seeing a ton of event happening =D

Anyone in Ryerson or other college/unis doing anything?

I seriously hope so! 500/semester is sweeeet. That'd be enough for a some motel rooms, meaning a good weekend trip per semester could be on the table for a bunch of riders.

What I'd really want to see is coordination for track days and/or racing events.. I think that could eventually be something that would draw a lot of attention and set the school apart from others.

I'll try to get in touch with NicholasP and see how things are going on the Ryerson end of things. I'm not sure who on here goes to U of T or York, hopefully someone willing to get involved as well

I went through the process of heading/starting the YorkU one.

You'd want about a team of 6-7 people. Link666 had some pretty cool perks lined up - learning curves was open to doing a safety demonstration in our lots, velocity was willing to give a small discount, a bunch of stores were also open to a student discount, etc. I wouldn't count on free parking, but you might be able to negotiate a slight discount if there are enough members. The bargaining power lies in how big the group is.

Initially had about 75 people e-mail me and I got all the paperwork done, started the rough draft for the club charter, etc. and I called for a first meeting to ensure interest...6 people showed up. So I decided to scrap it after that. On top of all that, I was also having a hard time finding enough people to commit to helping me run it (the most enthusiastic people only had a year left before graduating).

I might just set up a group ride when the season starts but tbh i found it was just better to make a ride thread for student/college/uni age riders & I met a lot of great people that way.

There or near the flower beds on Dundas. It's mostly 250 Ninjas. I remember telling one of them in the past that what they were doing is only going to lead to tickets and/or towing. But by fall it seemed like more and more bikes were parking there.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I had similar problems when I was trying to get a StarCraft 2 Seneca team going at York/Seneca (which would have gotten raped by Waterloo's team anyway).

I guess it's just a Canadian thing; not enough riders =(

Even in riding season it's always the same bikes parked at Seneca/TEL

Hahah, that was you doing the SC2 thing eh? lolz I saw it at the SSF office. Wud've been cool, especially if I didnt have to buy it XD

btw,, u see that white/gold Busa parkd by the F building last summer? What a baus!! I saw a couple of bikes doing some stunts in th far parking lot. I hope we didn't lose any credibility with all the rubber left on the ground =S

If you're still at Seneca, why dont we team up! I've got another rider interested in being an officer.

Oh ****, there was a busa?! I'll PM you my # and Facebook. Wish I was there to watch the stunts.

You ride a GS500F right? What color were you? I never noticed one with a Yoshi exhaust except my own.

EDIT: Wait ****, you're on the main Seneca campus right? Not York? That may explain why I've never seen your bike or the gold busa.

It's a student thing - it's hard to get a club going for smaller interests. Things like racial clubs, religious clubs, etc. are easier because there's more to do. We just ride & that's all we have in common. Those other groups can go snowboard, swimming, have a bbq, etc.

When you get the SC thing popping, let me know. A really good buddy of mine goes to Seneca and he'd be a pretty good addition to your team. He's platinum & he gets paid to teach people how to play.
 
I started that first thread about a rye motorcycle club a couple years ago. Encountered some resistance from Rye staffs who were afraid of lawsuits from a club that sounded too dangerous and would have events taking place off campus (I'm sorry, where we supposed to ride, you incompetents closed Gould st, remember?).

When I started to try to rally rye motorcyclists for support I realised a lot of them were showerbags that thought 5,000 km was a lot of rising for one year. They managed to burn more gas doing so then I did on the 10-15k / year I was logging at the time, mostly because they spent more time revving the engines of their parked bikes than actually riding.

I hope the demographic has changed otherwise you can expect lots of thrilling conversation on topics like:
- How much do I have to pay to have some guy install my flush mounts for me?
- What sounds better the Yoshi slip on or the Akra?
- Did I tell you about the time I had this girl on the back and popped a wheelie without telling her on the highway and when I looked back she wasn't there anymore and it turned out later on she died in a car accident on the same highway the same day? Isn't that crazy bro!?

Here's hoping that things have changed.

For perks include that clubs get an office. Meaning you'd have somewhere on campus to bang your girlfriends besides the top floor staircase of the library building. I think I lost a bracelet up there...

As for rye parking just ride down the alley between the library building and Yonge St and park in front of the library like we always did.

The alley is marked one way north and you'll take it south, but you're on a motorcycle, are you really gonna listen to a ******* sign in an alleyway no one uses anyway? Of ******* course not!

The alley has gotten a fair bit busier, since Gould was blocked.
 
It was blocked when I graduated. Still took it every day I had class on that side if campus (and TRS).

Except that the south loading dock is now also closed for construction and they've got metre wide conduit laying in the street, and on the sidewalk.

It used to happen all the time, before the previous person in charge of parking retired. It may happen again. Additionally if you are caught by police, while riding in the closed section, you could get nailed with any of a number of charges ranging from operation of a vehicle on a closed street (3 points), to operation without due care and attention (6 points).

Adri can say whatever he wants to, but it's you taking the risk.

The trial period is now over and this area of Gould, and Victoria is now permanently closed to traffic. I suspect that they'll be putting up something a little more permanent and convenient than a bunch of flower pots now, to block things off.
