Yep. A reduced depth of discharge will make it last years. If it’s a dual-duty “deep cycle/starting”, regularly discharging it below 50% (around 11.4v IIRC) and it might only last a season. Discharging only 20-30% and it will last years.

And make absolutely sure to recharge it as soon as you can afterwards. Deep discharges are never good to begin with on any battery, but being *left* in a discharged state is another kiss of death.
 
I get 4-5yrs out of deep cycle batteries , running them 6 months of the yr , then they sit . I hear about people getting 7-8 yrs but I don’t know how .
There are a lot of folks that dont actually understand battery nature and discharge them till empty then switch to the other and can’t figure out why they last 2 seasons . Deep cycle isn’t dead cycle LOL
