Why didn't you just take that 4500 and buy a new 250? You're so concerned over the stupidest ****. Should have bought brand new and just save yourself and anyone who has to deal with you a lot of headaches.
:lmao:
OP this is why you ask for a safety to be done at your mechanic.
BTW didn't you check the bike over before buying it?
Word of caution. I'm sure from what I read in this forum he's a certified and a good mechanic.
However, my brother has picked up a cert paper from his shop without ever having anyone see the bike in person. This was about 3 or 4 years ago though.
4500$ holy crap you could have bought a brand new 250 Kawi ninja for that not even.. 4,000 and have a extra 500$
Rosie toes is good for safetys only.
I went to Rosey Toes this past week to have him look at my bike. It was backed into at a parking lot in October 2012, so I decided to winterize it for the rest of the season until now. I knew something was wrong with my steering, and probably a couple other things. So I brought it to Ted, first thing I told him that my steering was off, so he took my bike and rammed it up against a light pole and told me it was "fixed". I feel completely uneasy riding my bike knowing that the "fix" was just moving the wheel or forks back into place so conveniently. The next thing I had him look at were my break pads, which were worn down to around 25% or less, and he said it is still okay to ride with them, my break fluid was also very very low because my break pads were low. I guess Ted was busy that day, I understand that small jobs like mine is not worth the time or money to look at, and sent me off with my bike on what he called a "piece of turd"
I ended up having someone else safety my bike that day, and had 4 different mechanics at the shop tell me that my breakpads needed to be replaced. After I replaced my breakpads, my break fluid went back to normal levels.
This was probably the third or fourth time I've been to Teds to have him fix minor things on my bike. The very first time I brought my bike to Teds, the handle bar was bent which caused the throttle to get stuck and you would have to roll it back, Ted said he "fixed" it, and safetied it afterwards, but to little to no surprise, it was not fixed and eventually I had to replace the entire bar.
So the moral of my story, I won't be returning to Rosey Toes, not even for a safety. I am waiting for my insurance to be activated tomorrow to take it out and ride it and hopefully getting it running again will relieve most the problems I'm having. I want to trust my vehicle.

I didn't know this forum or thread was regarding anything "holy" or the technicalities of spelling.
I'm sorry grammar nazi.

#1, thats a really dick thought process. "Let me do what I am incredibly worried someone else did to me". **** everything about what you are saying in that single sentence.
#2, you arent going to get any breaks cut if you're safetying the bike for a sale. The way almost every (good) mechanic who does safetys works is, if you just bought the bike, and there is minor wear items that are close to the end of their life, they will let you pass so you can actually register your bike before all your temp stuff expires and you can get insurance going and what not, because the idea is you come back in 2-3 months and get them to do the work for you, or you agree to do it on the spot, because hey, you just got a new bike, wanna make sure its awesome. If you are selling the bike, no ****ing way, because when the buyer doesnt do anything maintenance for a 3 months, part fails (because the seller conveniently forgets to tell him), and the mechanic gets ****ed because the "the bike wasnt safe, this part failed and should have been caught".
Also if you walk in like a giant **** with a stick up their ***, they arent going to cut you any breaks either because its more likely than not you will be a pain in the ***.
