I hate vacuuming..

Better than I thought, quieter than I thought, cheaper than I thought.
Just trundles along and does a good job in corners and stuff
Does not like wires or strings or things like light leaves but it cleaned areas that have not had a vacuum in a looooong time as it iso so small in height.

We have roombas. Good sweepers, crap vacuums. They've held up well over time. Like you said, they routinely clean lots of places that are normally neglected (like under the bed).

Got a new hose for the built in two years ago and a Dyson this one. We vacuum more now than we used to.
There is no under the bed, since the box springs sit on the floor; otherwise our bed is too high.
The places a robot would go, the Dyson probably fits more easily.
Except for the possible necessity of taxiing our fat cat around the house and to her food dish, I don't think a robot vacuum is in our future.

Robot vacuum? That's hilarious.

Had a Roomba a long time ago...was awesome for a single person living alone.

Now with 2 kids...I'm not so sure it could do it's duty with toddlers running around.

Ex had a Roomba also...would always get stuck as she left her undies on the floor...lol

You have to tidy things up before they run. Ours run about 6 hours a week. Clean up the floor, start them, leave the house to do something, floor is clean when you get back. Maybe used the central vac once in the past few years.

I was really suprised how quiet this one is...really not intrusive at all...mind you we live in an open Queenslander for most of the rooms so there are always fans, wind, frogs and some traffic noise. Certainly not annoying at all. Give it another go tomorrow maybe

Day 3 - turns out the first day the machine was full up before it ran out of power so was actually shedding some small bits of fluff and I did not do the house methodically.

Partner seems to be warming up to the idea (y)
Let it run to out of battery just on the bedroom and hall and ensuite on random today.
Ended up very full but not stuffed and we cleaned the brushes this time. Was surprised how much it picked up. Perhaps 2/3 of the furball above.
I'll do the othe half of the house tomorrow til out of battery and alternate between the two areas.

We tried it twice with different models, always jammed on a floor transition or stuck doing laps under the bed. Probably great in other houses , not suitable for mine at all .
I use a Barb , she comes once a week , does the whole place top to bottom and is amazing . Worth every penny.

We started out with one of these in the very early days of Roomba. We bought an extended warranty on the very first one we bought at Future Shop, which turned out to be a wise decision, because in the early days, we somehow managed to kill one about every 7-10 months.

We literally rode that extended warranty through about 5 roombas before they claimed some clause in the extended warranty and stopped the train, but we did get some amount of money back, I forget the exact details.

So we bought a new Samsung robot vacuum instead (for the brief time they were into those), and another extended warranty. And like every Samsung appliance ever, it sucked. And broke in about a year and a half. And they discontinued them, so Future Shop replaced it with, you guessed it...a Roomba.

Over the years the quality seems to have drastically improved, because our current model is going on probably 10 years old now and still mostly works. It seems to have had a stroke or something at one point with one of it's sensors as it does weird things, but it still cleans, kinda, but it doesn't return to it's dock anymore. We just don't use it much anymore as our house tends to be cluttered and I get frustrated playing the "Where's Roomba" game every day when I come home from work, or my personal favorite, "Roomba sucked up a sock I left on the living room floor last night and only vacuumed for 7 seconds before erroring out and stopping".

Now we have a Dyson stick. Game changer. I swear, I just turn it on in the front hall and it sucks the dirt from the entire main floor from there.

The dyson sticks are worth every penny. Vacuums better than any other vacuum I have ever owned and super easy to empty without a mess

I'm feeling left out of the Dyson party. We have milwaukee cordless for the house that works ok.

I’d be lucky to get a week out of a Roomba. Had a Shark Rotator for 6 years now. Works great. I can disassemble and reassemble it blindfolded while holding a beer, however.

I was tempted to get one... having dogs in the house all the time causes a bit of an issue, and id have to run it when toddler is asleep because otherwise bad things would happen

I have two 500 series roombas, one is 12+ years old (early one, basic model), the other maybe 10 (fancy timer one). I have a third broken one that was given to me that is a parts donor to keep them running. I have replaced the NiCd batteries in both with new larger capacity ones from Amazon. I considered making a modification to use a removable Bosch cordless tool battery.

If we don't run them often the brushes get tangled up with hair before they finish a run. Over the time I have had them we have had at least one and up to three cats... In fact the 12+ year old one cannot go straight anymore, always an arc... I think from hair in the wheel mechanism. On the other one the spinning brush are the front has a dead "gearbox". Next time I have them apart...

The best part IMO is that they go under the couch etc. where we do not vacuum often. You have to make the area roomba safe, cords etc. They also get jammed up with cat toys...
