RIP Wade Belak..

Professional hockey has degenerated into a goon sport because that's what fans pay to watch.

And they called Gordie Howe "Mr. Elbows" because he had nice elbows, and Ted Kennedy "Terrible Ted" because he couldn't stickhandle.

Thanks for the memo.

Still a head scratcher this one.

Guy seem to have such a positive attitude on life, wife, two kids just scooped a new hockey related job everything seemed to be going good for him. Had a buddy that played shinny with him, quite simply he said the nicest pro athlete you could ever meet, Belak was just a regular joe not a prima donna like most are these days.

too bad. just because people appear happy, and jovial doesnt mean they arent sufferring from some type of depression.

and to link this to the enforcer role in hockey is absurd. There are plenty of sports that are just as, if not more violent than hockey.

depression is a terrible disease.

It had nothing to do with depression, in fact if they say it was suicide they are lying.

It really bothers me when watching news and all they say is , it has to do with being an enforcer, that all 3 guys were enforcers. Boogaard obviously was addicted to prescription drugs and mixed them with alcohol, Rypian had depression which is a mental illness, and more then likely was born with it, and Belak was even more bizarre then the others, but had nothing to do with being an enforcer, in fact like everyone that saw him before his death said he looked happy, and he was, but he had a dark side, for lack of a better word. If they don't go public with the reason behind Belaks death, and allow the enforcer debate to go on, they are not doing the public any good. It would be more productive to bring the truth to light rather then blame the NHL.

theres no chance they all turned to this because they knew they were no good at their chosen sport but there simply because they could bully the more talented around? Lets be honest, they were all good at what they did, but they were rarely good sportsmen.

what does your post have to do with the reasons they died?

So did Belak pull a Michael Hutchence?

Wade's Mother was just interviewed on the CBC, she said Wade had suffered for years with depression and did not die of "natural causes" but couldn't elaborate , she had been asked to keep till the investigations are complete.
My condolences to the Belak family, whatever the circumstance its awful.

what is the truth?
Lets call it death by misadventure. If the the .truth doesn't come out, then I will explain what really happened, not in disrespect for Wade and his family, but vindicate fighting in hockey

I agree it's awful. He was one of my favouite players when he played for the leafs. I was ****** when he was gone, but we can't allow anyone to blame this on the NHL in any way, all it will do is get the bleeding heart hounds crying for fighting to be abolished.
