There were rumors he had cancer last year. I can't remember what kind it was, but the prediction was that he would pass in 2020. Apparently true. Bought their first album in 1978. Saw them on tour in 1980? Never saw so many beautiful women at a concert. He was a revolution in guitar playing. I recall Johnny Winter saying before Eddie, guitar was getting boring. Eddie reinvented it. Broke so much new ground, and he could write great songs. Very talented. 65, too young but the cocaine and cigarettes obviously caught up with him. RIP.
He first had cancer in his tongue about 20 years back. It was throat cancer that he later got that killed him. Life long smoker and pretty hard drinker too although he claimed it was the metal pics he held in his mouth when he played that caused the cancer.
