RIP Dan Wheldon

yeah, I saw the replay. It was ugly. I have to say I am surprised it wasn't worse for other drivers. 15 cars were involved.
 
Craziness to run those cars on that track, a couple of laps earlier two cars touched wheels on the straight. That how tight and close the racing was. Ironic thing was Wheldon was running last almost playing a wait and see game trying to keep out of trouble.

I thought he already moved up a few spots when the accident happened and not running last, not sure really.

I think you might be right, he was running 24th.
Weird thing i used to follow this series every week, hadn't watch a race in a couple of years and decided to sit down on the couch and watch the race. Tragic for Wheldon.

Sad but these guys do know goin gin of the dangers. \\\\My brother actually flew down for the race too!!! Sad news for sure:-( R.I.P
 
The cars are very safe these days. It takes some unusual circustances for a fatality. I'm sure the catch fence post must have hit him..he went into the fence head-first. Really unfortunate.
