Riding in the Wind

I was definitely thinking of this thread yesterday as it was my first time riding in heavy wind and I was only in town getting up to 60-70kpm. I kept on saying to myself ..... "relax and go with it". I made sure I had a good grip on the tank with my legs and let my upper body relax a bit and went with it. Few gusts got my attention but overall I am happy that I had a windy day to practice with in my first week of riding.

Yeah rode on Wednesday just before the rain came down and I must say very windy out. Got a few heavy wind blasts!!

Great timing as I was trying to explain to my friend who is new to the wind and highways that wind isn't scary at all once you relax:) I'll post it to her wall.

Was on the 401 yesterday around noon from Bayview to Port Union.. WOW WAS IT WINDY!!!!
Port Union back to Bayview was not as bad.

BIG difference riding @ 120 in the wind vs. no wind.
At one point I thought I ****** myself. :> *Was sure to check later, on.. nope.. All was good*

WOW was it ever windy though!

D

At 80-100 km winds last season (my first season) I almost fell few times.

12000 KMs later I am ok with riding in the wind due to a post similar to this one that i read early on. Good post.

I remember there was at least one or two days with such high winds. I believe this was during the time of hurricane sandy but I could be mistaken. Definitely remember it though.

I too do the full tuck in high wind

ps. thanks for reminding me, can install the tank grips I got for Xmas soon :)

I was riding on the countryside road at 120 kph a few weeks ago, with heavy rain and heavy wind pushing me towards many oncoming cars.
I was so naive, I should have slowed down.
Imagine if a strong gust hit me and pushed me towards oncoming cars also going around 120, I would have died instantly.

I was on some 80-90km/h roads yesterday in the wind... was a bit hairy, my first time with a strong cross-breeze. I tucked and held with my legs whenever a big truck came the other direction and it seemed to be okay. I could definitely feel the bike wanting to shake at times.

Here's a good video with some tips about riding in the wind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwIbaqgmAmM
