RIP. I ride through that area frequently.

Yesterday I met a former coworker of his. She mentioned that the BMW was new, as was his licence.
 
That's not quite accurate. He has been riding since 15 and was his passion. His previous bike was also a BMW and he had just bought this bike for a trip down East, that he and his wife had planned. He was also described as a very cautious rider that always wore full riding gear.

The riding group that he rode with plan on following the precession on their bikes.
Just an unfortunate accident; that we all have to try and be ready for.

Man that is sad and scary, i rode through that exact intersection a couple days before that.
 
I was just regurgitating what was told to me. The front page article in the St. Catharines Stranded did have a statement from his daughter that he'd been riding since the age of 15. Also per the article, the new BMW was for a trip to the east coast to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.
