rider down,, blew off a cop,, and went into the traffic circle too hot

sigh.. GWS i guess.. 2 "crotch rockets" blew by a cop.. then blew past another cop coming to help pusuit them, then one rider didn't make the traffic circle at Ira Needles and Erb.. police are very concerned for riders condition .. kitchener on closing the traffic circle now

the first cop stated,, the 2 m/c went past him extremely fast.. he light up the lights,, they accelerated.. so he called off the pursuit..because he couldn't get the cruiser to go anywhere near the speed they were travelling.. so he radio'd the m/c locations to cops he knew were in the area ... to watch for them coming at a high rate of speed.... the 3rd cop turned onto the road just behind the m/c's as they entered the round about.. and almost immediately requested EMS , and traffic... one rider down..

I always wondered what I was doing wrong. But now I know! And knowing is half the battle!

assuming that said rider had full insurance, (most likely not) is insurance still going to cover the cost of injuries/bike even though rider was clearly at fault and breaking the law?

You'll keep some basic accident benefit coverage to look after basic medical care, but criminal driving charges usually means that you say goodbye to any vehicle or property damage coverage, as well as some of your extended accident benefits.

Didn't really say that he "ran", just "blew by"... that's not really criminal charge worthy.

Hahahahaha

A-hole got what he deserved. Took off from the cops then put the public in danger by racing away. No sympathy here.

Careful. Expressed opinions of that nature will bring out some of the lesser wits here who will then question if you even ride a motorcycle.

Always a hard one to swallow was he in fact racing or just bowing by there's a difference there?

Actually, the roundabouts on Ira Needles' south end are very slippery. I've been on them at the speed limit and have felt the rear end of my bike scoot out a bit several times (Michelin Pilot Power 2 CT) - the tires still have 60% tread left, tires were warmed up and I wasn't goosing the throttle either. Several friends of mine have experienced the exact same thing. Admittedly, first time through I was a bit over the limit and made a mental note to proceed with caution next time. Next to no difference in result.

Can't remember if it was last fall or earlier this summer, but a guy on a Ninja wiped out and was lightly injured. The report I heard about said he claimed the same thing - slippery road and the rear end just swung out on him for no apparent reason.

Most people would scoff at this comment and chalk it up to excessive speed. I probably would have as well, until I experienced the exact same thing.

The roundabouts on Ira Needles' central and northern sections seem to be OK - just the southern parts give me worries.

Good thing he pointed this out cause I was going to run and then crash into a telephone pole. That way the cop would have pity on me and forget about giving me a ticket.
