Two words: Bike Jacking

I lived in Windsor for 18years. Find another hell hole to explore where the natives are less armed.

bahahaha apples and oranges dude. "I grew up in toronto so I'll be fine in detroit"... get on with your bad self, homie. If you end up on the east side, do yourself a favour and don't stop at the red lights.

some places you can get robbed for a dollar, other places they will kill you for a nickel

good luck

Its not really that bad. It is a bit more civilized nowadays. Doubt you will be screwed riding in packs. Its going to be interesting nevertheless.

There are some nice road outside of metro Detroit area, imo not worth the long hrs long ride on 401 (even with the 34/36 bypass).

btw you just missed one of the best bike weekend in metro Detroit. StockBridge All Clubs Day and the Thunderdrome back to back.

See, Detroit is pretty messed up. The only difference between

Robocop_film.jpg

and the movie Robocop is there are no cyborg police officers but everything else is accurate.

I live in Windsor and cross into Detroit regularly. I have a friend who is on the Detroit Police Force. Stay out of the East side, near Coleman Young Airport. Stay out of Delray. If you want to see devastation then take a ride west from the Ambassador Bridge along W. Jefferson Ave through River Rouge. You'll be fine in a pack during the day. Belle Isle on weekends is a happening place, but can be dicey at night depending on the crowd.

Detroit is a great town to party in, there's plenty of good food, entertainment and sports to keep you busy. I have never had a problem downtown in 17 years visiting there.
