Hey Guys I recently got a 600cc motorcycle (upgraded from a 250R) and I am looking to purchase a new set of tires.

Im looking to get either the Michelin Pilot Road 2 or the Pilot Power 2ct

Just wanted to get everyones opinion on those and roughly how long each tire would last in terms of kms

You will get more mileage out of the pilot road 2,
If I remember correctly I got around 8000 k on a rear pilot power and around 1200 + on the road pilot.
I currently use the road 2 with no complaints, they are very good in the wet.

I liked almost everything about the PR2s - great grip, last forever, fantastic in the rain - but turn-in feels a little weird to me. They feel fine mid-corner once you're on the sides of the tires.

Personally I'm questioning buying long lasting tires anymore - the PR2s for me lasted long enough to get multiple punctures. I repaired the rear once, then replaced the set after the second time. Looked like a roofing nail both times.

Personally I hate my 2CT's in comparison to the Battle Axe 021's and the Dunlop Q2's that were previously on the bike. They feel like they never get up to temp. That being said they are fun to drift around corners with.

I love the road smart 2s.

I'm running PR3's and they're currently at 14000kms with another good season to go. Newly designed for more traction in the wet and dual compound for stickyness in turns and longevity in everyday riding.
I give them 6 burnouts out of 5 on my rating scale.

The pilot 2CT's were the single worst tire I've ever used. It's a popular tire, but in the corners the tires did not inspire confidence at all. Can't comment on the PR2's, but consider the rosso 2's IMO they are excellent.

How much Kms can you get out of the sport max q2? I'm realy open to all brands. Been looking into the q2 and Rosso 2s as well now since both are actually cheaper than the power 2ct

I've got 2cts on now and just bought a second set... Have about 7k on the first set, and they still have tread. Unlike others, I have not had a problem with them, they heat up quickly and stick well, even in the tighter turns. I have not tried them on the track tho. I have heard that they heat up so much on the track that they get squirrelly at higher speeds. Again, never experienced it, just heard thru track buddies..

My Q2's had 10,000 on them. The center was almost to the wear indicator. The front was starting to scallop. The transition from the center to the side during turn in became unpredictable which was the reason for replacing them. I will be going back to them this season as soon as my 2CT's are done.

I've gone through two sets of Road 2's and am currently on a set of Road 3's. The 2's lasted an average of 20k km a set. The 3's are currently at about 16k km and I'd guess they have another 6k km in them. Both tires are good IMO

^^^ Good to know trackdays have been eating up my Q2's way before I get any serious wear down the middle. Never had a issue with them, and pro6 always has them

I have a set of Dunlop Raodsmarts and I like them, was going to get the Q2's but heard the tread wears fairly quickly. I don't them too sticky since I don't take it to the track.

Throwing another voice in for hating 2CTs. Also hate Power Pures (but they're gone now). They're too triangulated and the "hard wearing" center has little grip, and it's even worse in sub 12C temps.

I've never tried the Pure but the Power 2CT definitely has this mushroom-shaped profile that could be described as triangular.

How did you figure out they were too triangulated?

The ones I've tried (NOT the touring versions, the sport versions) are either full commit or they don't turn well, in other words you have to put a lot of input in for small changes of course. The very opposite of tires that I've liked, such as the Q2 which provide feedback and some expectation of proportional response. The Pures were just plain ugly for this, worked OK at race track lean but terrible on the street, on several different bikes.

I hated the 2CT's both on the street and on the track. No confidence in the corners in either situation. Not terrible in the wet but not great either. I'll never buy another set. Ran the 2CT's on 600, 750, and 1000cc SS bikes btw.
Running Q2's on the street now and love them. Easily getting as much miles on them as the 2CT's and the confidence (ie. feedback) in them (even cold) is excellent. I highly recomend the Q2's but if you're doing mostly straight line riding/touring and are going to rack up the miles maybe a touring tire would be better for you (I have no experience in that area although know of plenty of friends happy with their PR3's).

Street tires are usually not triangulated as much as race tires and I never experienced this issue you describe with Pures. There could be other variables in play. To each his own.
