Revenue Canada

Turbotax, H&R Block, Wealthsimple ...all free and all easy to use...all CRA approved...
Perfect thank you! Just waiting for the young man now to show up.

I think his parents want him to learn to do it solo. I would too...but my wife's business and mine get put together...

Mine is a simple single T4. Hers...not so much.

Heads up, it appears that if you end up paying more than 3K in personal income tax after you're assessed, CRA now wants you to pay the following years taxes in quarterly instalments throughout the year . Good grief......
That's always been the case. Welcome to the ballers club. ;)

Down the rabbit hole again.
Canada Revenue Agency sends me an email saying they have important information for me regarding my 2021 tax return that can only be accessed via my online account.
I don't have an online account and their system won't allow me to create one ??? Does that mean I have to phone them (again), wait on the line until an agent is free (if ever) or should I just ignore them and wait for a paper statement to arrive in the mail ?
There's a Joseph Heller novel in here somewhere.
😕

If it does not have a link it could be legitimate especially if you have to pay a balance after filing your 2021 return.

I received an email notice 5 minutes after filing my tax return with a similar message.

Once I logged into CRA, a message was in the inbox saying that they had expressed my return and advised that i now had until May 24 to pay my balance without an incurred penalty.

The amount was precisely what I calculated it to be.

Looks like they are trying is to deter people from waiting for their notice of assessment before paying their balance.

Here is a Copy of the letter.

Dear XX

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) sent you new mail online called:

That's what I got, but the CRA website won't let me sign in ???

Which method are you trying to use to login?
  1. By using your banking credentials, or
  2. By creating a login directly on the CRA site
Either way should let you log in immediately using a two-factor authentication code that they'll text to you.

During the login process you'll also be prompted to enter (or request) your Account Code, which is the thing that takes 10 days to snail mail to you. You can continue to log in without it, but you won't be able to see your notice of assessment.

You need a code that they mail to you. I lost mine and you can't request a new one online, you have to call and ask for a new one. Not as easy as one would expect.

Locked out.

@Chris-CJ that could be the reason why then...weird though, because we were able to claim this last year and the previous year however I never have...hmmmmm...last agent I spoke to told me it was in Windsor being reviewed...oh well, I'll get interest once the deadline of April 30 has come and gone...

Locked out.
FWIW, when they wanted something from me, the email said "New mail online called: Initial Contact Letter". When they had looked at what I submitted "New mail online called: Review Letter". Ideally those would be slightly more descriptive so you had an idea what the mail was.

Right now I'm just going to wait and see if anything shows up in the mail.

I got no paper related to the request but they could presumably see that I read it and I replied by the deadline. It would make sense to mail a paper copy if you haven't looked in a week. Govt rarely makes sense. Good luck.

Good luck indeed. As a student, I once did a 4 month co-op term in their internal IT department, back when it was still called Revenue Canada. As a general policy, they would not set up automated payroll deposits for students because it was too much work. So every two weeks, all of the students had to physically track down the person who had our paycheques...

so I called again Friday night...got through to an agent right away (less than 3 minutes wait time) and spent 43 minutes on the phone...it is indeed the educator supplies credit that is holding it up...in my case, it's only a $35 credit, so I asked if they could process it without that amount...after being put on hold a few times, the agent put in the request to have it processed without, so we'll see if that helps...a few teachers have posted on FB that they've done this and one said hers was finalized in 10 days after her request...fingers crossed...
