Respect

I have a riding pal does that with his GS
concern I have is you're putting a lot of weight on the kickstand
maybe worrying too much
but if the bike rolls or the kickstand shifts
you're in a real pickle
have you seen kickstand turns? kickstand can take it.
also from experience, always always always triple check kickstand and bike stability. when mounting and dismounting.
had a bike that was fine parked, then once started, the vibrations moved it off the kickstand (probably not fully extended).

Not always.
Sometimes, Ducati comes to mind, the kick stand is mounted to a stupid place that will only take load in one direction.
Ducati 900SS motor based bikes (900SS, Monsters etc) the kick stand is mounted with 2 10mm bolts to the SIDE OF THE ENGINE CASE (TERRIBLY stupid design for a street bike) that regularly breaks off, so now you have to replace the engine.

it's really impressive when you accidentally boot the top case
and fall on your keester beside the bike

for best results
perform in front of a parking lot full of pirates

how does he get on the bike?

Watched a guy break the tab off his Duc SS at the forks years ago. A lot of dual shock BMW's had very weak sidestands as well.

For all the Desmosedicis that get locked up as garage queens, saving all their miles for the next owner, here's a guy that actually rides his... and goes camping with it as well:

Personally, I don't understand the keep-it-low-mileage collector-types. So this guy's gonna get sh!t for the resale value, but who cares? You spent the money on it, enjoy it!

Motorcycles and cars are meant to be ridden/driven, not stared at.
The wooden boat museum in Clayton NY is worth it if you like boats. They have a BNIB ancient outboard motor in a factory sealed box. You get to look at a cardboard box that's supposed to have a motor in it.

And then there are the wine collectors that never drink the stuff

A few in every activity.

A few years ago i saw a Rolls with a mattress tied to the roof. Near the UofW as the students were coming back.

Well, that's a different story though. Depending on the car in question and the deferred maintenance, that Rolls could be worth negative dollars

Realistically the karate kick method is the only physical way to get on a lot of full dresser cruisers as well.

But....

When my last bike was heavily packed, I stepped onto the foot peg to be able to get my leg over.

I step on the passenger floorboards myself. That extra 8-10+ over the regular floorboards/pegs makes it even that much easier to swing the leg up and over.

A quick flip of the leg after mounting and it's folded up.

Works amazingly well. I do it without even thinking anymore honestly.

As for the keep the miles low crowd....

I good sign you cannot mentally afford a depreciating item you bought is if you are afraid to use it because it will get damaged or decrease (more) in value. Maybe they have the money but they actually cannot afford it....

Obviously different if it is an actual appreciating investment....

Anyone buying that bike and not riding it, so it hold's it value, needs their noodle read.
People see what the bevel's sell for, then think that any Ducati will appreciate in value.
THEY WILL NOT. That thing will lose to inflation, there is no reason for it to increase in value.
They aren't limited editions and are in no way significant. (Not to say Ducati, or any body else's, "limited editions" are automatic winners. The numbers are usually limited to how many they can sell... plus a few more...just in case).
If you held on to it for 50 years it will be worth more than you paid for it... corrected for inflation? You would have been a lot better off buying T bills or any other SAFE investment. A LOT BETTER OFF.

...but then, anyone buying that bike to go touring on needs their noodle read.
Maybe he rides it to track days and camps for the weekend? I wonder if the little harbor freight 2 stroke generator can run tire warmers?

I used to steal my older brother's bike and ride up to Mosport to race, then ride home... till the time I crashed in corner 2 pretty good and had to ride home, with one hand holding the headlight out in front of the bike to see.
GOOD TIMES!

... as it turns out he knew about it all along, and he used to spend the day with his girlfriend so I could steal his bike. He figured it out when he saw Pirelli tires on the bike, and he knew he was WAY to cheap to buy Pirelli tires
