For all the Desmosedicis that get locked up as garage queens, saving all their miles for the next owner, here's a guy that actually rides his... and goes camping with it as well:

Personally, I don't understand the keep-it-low-mileage collector-types. So this guy's gonna get sh!t for the resale value, but who cares? You spent the money on it, enjoy it!

Motorcycles and cars are meant to be ridden/driven, not stared at.

how does he get on the bike?

how does he get on the bike?

Karate kick through the centre and then hop over the seat.

I'm no stranger to that mounting technique:

That guy's got crazy money.
The maintenance costs on the Desmocedici are about $1/mile from what I've heard.

I have a neighbor with a 2008-ish boss mustang that is his pride and joy and probably puts maybe 50-100km on it per summer. Sits in the garage and gets washed every month. Every time I drive by I feel like telling him that nobody at his funeral is going to be saying they are happy he kept the km's low on his car. It's not even that special of an edition of the mustang. So when he dies his daughter might get 40 grand instead of 30 grand when she goes to sell it? Drive the damn thing.

My aspiration one of these days is to do a Rossi-type dismount:

Like an F-n Boss!

I'd need two or three strong young people to hold the bike up, and a really expensive set of leathers, then maybe I could do that.

im short, and have a topbox mounted on passenger seat.
does no one else step on the peg to get over and off? shoving legs through feels less graceful to me.

For the more money than brains gang.Lots of them have needed full motor rebuilds at low mileage.Heads have to be pulled to adjust valves.Head gaskets are over $200 each! Lol.

That works if you don't have anything piled high on the passenger seat. But if you can't swing your leg over the back even when doing the one-foot-on-the-stirrup saddle-mount without roundhouse-kicking luggage or a bag, then the karate kick through the hole in the center becomes the other viable option.

In the original Sedici picture above, if the rider attempted to put one foot on the rearset and swing his other leg over the back, then there'd be a pile of drybags on the ground behind the bike.

I have a riding pal does that with his GS
concern I have is you're putting a lot of weight on the kickstand
maybe worrying too much
but if the bike rolls or the kickstand shifts
you're in a real pickle

I am sure your concerns are the same as others.
When my last bike was heavily packed, I stepped onto the foot peg to be able to get my leg over. I always made sure to grab the front brake laver as well to prevent any movement as I was often parked on "not the best" surfaces.

Turn the bars hard left and it shouldn’t shift.

Kickstand can take it!

Yep I always grab a handful of front brake while mounting, even on a baggage free bike.
