Just a little reminder for those of you that ride this time of the year to stay aware of bridges freezing. They don't have to be major bridges like the Hamilton Skyway, but even little ones over creeks and on occasion culverts can freeze.

It is especially a factor when it is cold overnight and is foggy in the morning. It was around -3 when I left home to head to work and several of the bridges I rode over were icy.

2 wheels + ice. are you guys nuts?

what about overpasses? The two that concern me are on the 427 North before the airport, which I hit hard fast as hell and from 401 West getting onto 403...
On a side note I always smell something fruity in the air when on that overpass going west or under it coming east on the 401...ALWAYS. Is there a bubble gum factory or something??

Probably the potatoes from the Molson plant...I love the smell.

Overpasses are bridges. Anything that has air going under it will tend to freeze before normal roads.

I don't know what might be csausing the fruity smell over there but there is a factory making Double Bubble on the east side of hwy 400 just norht of Langstaff. I routinely can tell the wind direction based on when I smell it.
