Remembrance Day

Heads up. The only way to express yourself on Nov 11 is to buy a poppy from a veteran or Canadian Legion member. Hanging a bunch of reds xmas lights in you tree is NOT remembering.
And to my neighbours with your xmas lights up before remembrance day. Shame!
Old guy rant off.
My grandfather served and fought (WW1 and WWII), my dad and 2 of his brothers served in peacetime.

Everyone in my clan wears a poppy.

On Nov 11, I'll drop into the local Vet hall, say thanks, buy a round, then leave. Done this for 24 years.

Hear, hear. I'll add my neighbour who has yet to take down his ridiculous Halloween decorations. Having plastic skeletons crawling out of the ground is revolting when held next to poems like In Flanders Fields that talk about graves.

Halloween doesn't need two months, nor does Christmas. Bah humbug.

On that note, my wife needs to clean up her crap. Still a few ghosts outside. They will be gone before Nov 11.

A lot of my neighbors have their xmas lights up and on. They call them Diwali lights though.

Three uncles went over, two came back. The one that was a mechanic had some funny stories.

He had a dozen German soldiers try to surrender to him but he was where he shouldn't have been, collecting souvenirs (AKA looting) . He told them to surrender to someone else.

A German soldier I met sadly told of being in the trenches with twelve year old boys crying for their mothers.

A former Luftwaffe pilot told of getting jumped by American flyers. He couldn't outrun them but could out turn them. He circled up and down until the yanks ran low on gas and everyone ran for home base.

The audacity to try and desecrate Remembrance Day..
These people stop at nothing.

Olivia Chow speaks to a land acknowledgement and shouts down Atlantic slave trade in a Remembrance Day speech. Calls the Canadians settlers and migrants . Wow , just a solid wow .
