I was in a similar situation last month, i waited over a month before i register with the MTO. But i didn't have safety so it would considered to be unfit and i dont want that. When i was filling the form for a plate and temporary sticker i just put a my old insurance company, basically you can put anything you want they dont check it as long as the insurance company exists.
then i went to Ted, did the safety I return to the MTO the next day register it with a different policy number cuz i couldnt remember what i wrote for the first form. Next thing she printed my ownership and gave me the sticker.
