Going from an old tv to a new OLED 4k was mind blowing for me. Have an okay-ish 3.1 soundbar/subwoofer, just need to add two more wireless speakers for a good 5.1 setup.

Don't have them yet, but when I do add them, it will be 5.1. They would differentiate between channels.Does it differentiate between front and rear? Otherwise you’ll have a 3.1+ setup
That's actually a bit far for 50". Head needs to be 6'-7' for PoV near iMax width.short (maybe 8 feet or something?) in a smallish room.

I would also recommend headphones. You likely have good cans already.
You'll always be conscious of neighbours with a large sub based system.
