Recommendations for a 600cc sportbike

Which 600cc sportbike: Options narrowed down

This will be my 3rd bike and I'm looking for opinions on what to get. I really like the look of naked bikes if they have a windscreen, but am open to almost anything. Supersports are ok too as I am at the age/experience now where I can actually afford the insurance.

I recently went on a ride with my buddy who has a ZX6r and that looked pretty slick. One of the reasons I like the naked styling is because I work on my bike all the time and removing fairing gets annoying, he mentioned though that it only takes 10 mins to get the plastic of his bike.

Any advice or recommendations is appreciated!!

Honda are a living nightmare to tweak. Everything seems like a damn paradox. Otherwise the bike rides damn well amazing

Plastics don't take very long to get on or off, but it gets annoying doing it over and over again. If you go down the plastics are expensive to repaint or replace. They also tend to cram things in a little more under the plastic, because you can't see it. When it's in the open it needs to look a little neat and tidy.

I really like the 600RR (had an 06 and i had to buy another one) ...... i'd tell you to stay away from the new body R6, the seating is too uncomfortable for longer rides and to me, it felt like the bike wanted to just drop itself with every lean. looks friggin amazing though

The bike must be easy to work on....I do nearly all of the maintenance myself. If fairings are a problem to get on or off, I probably won't be too happy.

I should of mentioned my previous rides.....ex250, and presently an ex500. I really like Kawasaki's, but am open to anything. I still haven't sat on any bikes/or ridden any for that matter, but I am leaning towards the posture and positioning of a supersport....plus the added performance.

Actually, I think the supersport insurance premiums are quite a bit higher (around $1300 per year)....so, maybe I should just stick with the 600cc non ss recommendations for now.

skip the 600's....get a 1k already!

Honda CB600F Hornet is what you need.

if you like the naked style, why not get the naked style ?

+1. The street triple is very supersport-ish but without the seating position and the fairings. Power output isn't as high as the cream-of-the-crop 600SS bikes, but the attitude is there.

That said, working on a 4 cylinder bike is going to be quite a bit more difficult compared to the 2 cylinder bikes you're used to regardless of the plastics. Especially if you have inverted forks. It's nothing you can't get used to, but expect a learning curve haha.

If you like working on your bike it's all good, but don't forget that the bigger bikes have/require more. More cylinders, more plugs, more wiring, more gas etc.

A couple of us here have Kawa Z750S's. Best of both worlds really...a windscreen for highway riding...bikini fairing for a bit of wind protection and easy access to the bikes innards, standard seating position. The engine is a friendly one, it's not a screamer...but if you twist the throttle there's 109 HP to pull your arms out of their sockets if you wish. A small amount of modding of the bike gets you something really good too but it's good to go "out of the box".
