Recommendation for 2-3 day trip out of GTA area?

Looking for a recommendation for a good ride this weekend.

Planning on leaving at 7AM Saturday and picking up a helmet in Lewiston.

Was then thinking of heading down in to Pennsylvania?

Or maybe spend a couple days exploring the finger lakes in New York?

Just want to spend a couple days on the road and see some sights. Any mountains worth driving up that can be reached in a solid days drive (700-800KM)?

Darryl

Do PA - figure on an hour or more at the border - Lewiston is under construction as well.
PA is lovely - way better than Finger Lakes and further east it's rainy this weekend - PA is "okay: for weather....fantastic for roads....base out of Renovo or Coudersport - there will be tons of riders about including likely us.
Search in the touring section.

What Macdoc said, but base out of Wellsboro, Williamsport or State College! Renovo and Coudersport have nothing to offer for food and entertainment. Wellsboro is very charming and Penn Wells Lodge is bike friendly.

State College, Williamsport and Clarks Summit are your best options depending on where and how far you want to ride. The Finger Lakes area is scenic but not challenging for a motorcyclist. If you want to keep it simple, stick with State College. Open a map of PA and look for twisty roads in central PA.

Examples off the top of my head include Jacks Mountain Road, Longhouse Scenic Byway, River Road, Wycoff Run Road, PA-33, PA-44, PA-45, PA-59, PA-87, PA-103, PA-120, PA-125, PA-144, PA-154, PA-187, PA-192, PA-235, PA-287, PA-321, PA-414, PA-475, PA-554, PA-555, PA-655, PA-664, PA-666, PA-729, PA-747, PA-872, PA-879, PA-915, PA-949, PA-973 and PA-994. This list doesn't even include relatively unknown back roads that are a little hard to find.

The two best roads in central PA are PA-33 and PA-125. I rate them an 8.5/10 with 10/10 being Tail of the Dragon, Back of the Dragon and Devil's Triangle. You'll need 3 days to do PA-33 and PA-125. PA-33 is far south of State College all the way to the Maryland border. PA-125 is far south from Williamsport towards Harrisburg (or Philadelphia). These two roads are very challenging; elevation changes, S-turns, hairpins, fast sweepers, going over rolling hills (i.e. blind), tight turns. The good news is because they're so far south, a lot of riders either don't know about them or don't have the time to reach them.

Excellent, thanks for the tips guys.

Think we're going to head for State College. Appear to be tonnes of rooms available for a reasonable price.

Leaving at 7AM tomorrow morning.

Hope to beat the border rush and get to usaddressinc by 9 to pick up my helmet then hitting the road from there.

St Marys or Coudersport if you're looking to a closer base. Wycoff run rd and 44/144 are great roads. Looks like I need to plan a central PA trip to hit PA-33 and PA-125,
