Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

We’ve started to watch some of the older movies too. Funny as De Niro and Al Pacino have come up in a few. It was more about acting, a good story and less special effects.
Good thing about getting old is you can watch them and only a scene or two are remembered but the rest of the story is brand new. 😂
This is a great Pacino movie if you’ve never seen it, worth rewatching if you have.

I remember seeing it in the theatre. Fantastic movie.

Many years ago we were in New York city on one of those great fall nights, went to some play and came out hungry. We found this quite looking Italian restaurant, as I was craving eggplant parmesan, and found it on the lit menu outside. We go down these steps into a quiet, elegant looking quiet place. A few patrons and the food smelled great. We order and as we get the bread and wine, this cool dude quietly enters wearing a hat, tipped over his eyes, wearing a bright coloured suite, sits in the corner, a few tables away from us, everyone seems to know him and nod quietly, waiter shakes his hand, and a few words exchanged. It was Al Pacino. He sees wife and I are staring and he gives us a quiet smile and nods. Coolest and only encounter I've ever had with a celebrity.

SISU - It's Kill Bill except with a Finnish guy and a bunch of Nazi's.

Polar - Little weird but also a bit entertaining.

Red 2 - Second time seeing it and it's still a fun watch.

We watched Red and Red 2 over the weekend and they were great entertainment. John Malkovich stole the show. His expressions were hilarious.

Rewatched “As Good As It Gets”. I forgot how good that movie is. My wife commented that I like it because he says out loud what every man thinks but doesn’t say. She’s not wrong.

3 deep into the Paramount+ 10 episode series MobLand. Good cast, Guy Ritchie directed. It's pretty good so far. Helen Mirren's ruthless matriarch in it makes Victoria in Red/Red2 look like a nun.

Kinda interested in these Red movies you all have been mentioning. These are the ones with Bruce Willis?
That would be them. Great fun movies and I agree that Malkovich chews the scenery.

Still good!
The best part of them are how amazing the filming is. Beyond Thunderdome didn't quite stand up to it but the rest are amazing. First 1080P movie I watched that had me up and trying to count the pebbles on the road.

Not really connected to this thread, but connected:

I got to see "The Gamers: Dorkness Falls" from the inside. I was on-set, in Seattle, both on-camera and behind a (stills) camera. Even had an incredibly minor part and ONE line :ROFLMAO:. I sure hope they use the long shot, and not the swivel to zoom close-up, or their editing rig might not survive my "face for radio."

Specific information is currently under NDA and my photos are under embargo, until I get clearance.

They are both well executed movies, classics of pop culture. For me they are more then just the filming, which is excellent. There is also no fluff, or little of it. Meaning every scene, dialogue, and action has purpose for the story.

Not sure if I agree on the Thunderdome critique, 2 men enter 1 man leaves, everyone remembers it.

But I can see how it might not be everyone's cup of tea, I think they toned the movie down to appeal to a broader audience, especially with the pack of kids aspect, which seemed like a trend back in the 80's with Ewoks in Jedi, Goonies, and BTD.
I didn't mind it, it filled in a hole about the world they lived in.

I'm not crazy about the first movie Mad Max, it's ok, it's kinda rough and awkward. Maybe I should rewatch it and see if my opinion still holds up.

I said the same thing. Went back and watched it - it has a few warts for sure but it watched a LOT better than I remembered it.

Also, not taking away from Thunderdome, I enjoy the movie and I've seen it a few times. Road Warrior I am pushing well over 30 watches.
