As for this "An estimated 991 units in the US market are believed to be affected, which represents one percent of the population", what do they mean? There is no way they sold 100K of these in the US. I would be shocked if they sold 100K worldwide during the life cycle of this bike.

I looked it up on nhtsa.gov ... this is the exact language in the safety recall report:

That makes more sense. A very poorly constructed sentence that molested the intended meaning.
