You could go aftermarket fairings as well and get a whole new body (Even custom painted) if you wanted for under $600 shipped and then try to sell your old body to re-coup some of the money.

For under $600 shipped???? I'd like to see how well they fit compared to OEM. Just don't shop at fairingsforless.com. My suggestion stay with OEM.

Why is that retarded? And I don't think it's the spool but the tab with the threaded hole that needs to be welded based on the blurry pic (OP hasn't confirmed this though). Some bikes (like mine) don't have these to begin with so owners have them welded on.
Mine fit perfect and held up amazing. There is a vendor here, motorcyclefairingsRus that might be able to help you out if you go the aftermarket route.

If your spool has broken the threaded mount point on your swing arm, you can use universal lifts.
They look like flat arms that support the swing arm from underneath.
I have some spare parts so PM me if you need anything, although your bike is an 08, some parts are still interchangeable.
Probably like bar ends and such.

If you take it to the dealership or buy brand new OEM fairings to fix the broken ones for sure it will be.
I got a quote from when my bike was backed into (All cosmetic damage) and it was $4,400, I fixed it myself for $1,700 including a new chain.

I have been riding over street car tracks for past 2 years.... no problems till this incident... must have been either grease or the groove was too deep, no clue what I did wrong... Either way it doesn't hurt to always learn something new. I always do maintain my tire pressure as well so can't see that being a factor...

The tab is one thing... But the spool itself is another! Trying to weld a spool back on IS RETARDED. It's all good though, he just got the name wrong.

Yep, he did...... its the tab for the rear spool (see the pictures), and yes any person that welds aluminum can put another tab on, or weld yours back on for you!
