Rattle can paint for race glass?

ive never used plastidip personally but i got a few buddies that have it and it stays in perfect shape with pressure washers from washing the car so i think it would have a good chance of holding up

On everything but the tank, it comes off when you pick at a corner and pull the whole thing off, id think the tank would not last for long with the sides getting abused from your legs and knees.

however , for 5 bucks a can, just spray it again lol

Just leave the tank silver and use black stomp grip/tech spec.

I already have the black techspec grips on, but still if the tank is the only grey thing, it really pops out in the photoshop sketches I'm experimenting with.

Then use the plati dip but mask off your grips and you probably won't wear through anywhere else.

Why don't you just paint the fairings silver with black accents?

Why don't you just paint the fairings silver with black accents?

Couple of reasons:

Firstly, I'll never be able to completely match the tank color with the Tremclad paint, so if there's silver/grey on the fairings, it shouldn't be too much.

Secondly, my OEM fairings are silver/grey like the tank and I'm dead bored by the color, so i need to treat myself to a refreshing change.

1) A visit to Canadian Tire showed a very limited set of colors for the Tremclad. However, there was a "tint base" cans. Am I limited to the colors they have on the shelf, or can the paint be tinted?

I haven't read this whole thread, but saw this and thought I'd make a quick comment.

I painted an old track bike with Dupli-color from Canadian Tire. There are a lot more colour options with that brand, even OEM colours. Maybe you'd have better luck finding a match.

FWIW, I did 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. Turned out great. The red is what I painted with Dupli-color.

Just want to say thanks for changing my life, I've read a bit and looked at projects, I'm totally going with white Plasti Dip for the tank! Even better---now they sell the Plasti Dip Glossifier, fantastic! I'm gonna use glossy white Tremclad for main body color, dark blue or black for a big stripe going from the fender through the body to the tail, and white Plasti-dipped tank, FANTASTIC!

I have a buddy that regularly adds Mason hardener to Tremclad. The paint cures out completely and ends up hard as hell. You can get the Mason hardener at UAP. Might make a big difference on duability and resistance to gas as well, but have not tried it.

Did anyone end up testing the hardener/Tremclad mixture with gas?

Alright.... so part of my winter project will be revamping the look of the bike...... In the past I have used Krylon and hated the finish even after prepping the body..... go pro mount wouldnt stick etc.

The track body work, has been downed by previous owner and by me :S...... so I will obviously be doing some repair work and prep work first, the colour (not going to mention scheme) would not be found in tremclad, I am not up for doing a full "professional paint job" since it isnt worth it, and I am more interested in doing other more important work. I would also be doing the tank, since its a honda (has separate tank cover)...rims are being powercoated...

Any suggestions on the best method? I could find the colour in crappy tire, or perhaps an auto paint?? Could I roll this on? I guess I am not sure which product to go with given, my odd colour choice (not the general black, white, yellow) standards...

Any suggestions much appreciated.

napa can put auto paint in a spray can for you. that's what I'm doing with mine.

The paint in the can may be "auto paint" but it has no activator (hardner) in it . The paint will always remain soft like normal rattle can it will be susceptible to the same problems such as gas spillage etc. Not saying one way or the other about using it but with out hardner its just expensive rattle can.

Girls, save yourselves a lot of headaches and sent it to be painted to carboncat (above) nice guy and I have seen his work, pretty good and for the price is a no brainer.

I got my plastics being painted right now with him
