Rant: pulled out of my M test

Definitely all worked out on this end, and was a real pleasure to meet the gentleman that is @hymnz . I know what a relief it is to get that full M under your belt.

Next thread will be about sorting that Yamaha clutch and belt system, it's way more complex than the Burgman's centrifugal clutch, if a little less squeaky in stop and go... 😁

For sure... It's like "I never have to do that again!"

I'm not so sure the present system is any better than back when all you had to do was demo a few skills in the MoT parking lot and have the examiner watch you ride down to the corner and back.
Sure, maybe make the riding safety course mandatory, but once you take the class... Do the road test and get a full license.
I got my M in 1991.
Written test for a "learners permit". 'Rode on that for a season I think. Took the test 'got my M
'Much less hassle than today

My rubric in case someone is interested. I feel proud.

The route started from Sheridan College on McLaughlin Rd > Derry Rd > 410 South > 401 West > Hurontario North > Took a right into some industrial area > Back on Hurontario > 401 West > Mavis Rd North > Took right into residential area > McLaughlin Rd > Sheridan College to finish.

Wow, respect to @Priller. Nice to see members stepping up to help others, especially with the potential risk involved. This belongs in the "good news" thread.

And respect to @hymnz for borrowing a bike and NOT crashing it and NOT squirming their way out of paying for the damage and NOT leaving the owner high and dry with an at-fault insurance claim.

So, unfortunately, this is not happening. The landlady wants to use the garage for storage immediately, and more so, it looks like I'll need really strong tools to open the casings.

Got it towed to the mechanic this morning. C'est la vie.

Looks like you missed looking at a hazard, turned left and didn’t immediately move into the right lane, didn’t signal before the left line turned white and wide when entering the highway. Good job.

Fully aware I missed timing the signal properly-- started moving onto the ramp before signalling. Wheres does it say I was wide though?

I vaguely remember that you had to slew your head around in a comically exaggerated fashion in order to not get dinged for not checking for hazards.

But man, that form looks pretty much exactly the same as I remember it

Sorry, the line becomes a little wider. Same thing when you’re exiting the highway; the line changes when you’re supposed to do your signal & blindspot check.

Oh yea, you're right. That's exactly what it was.

I had my M test tomorrow and just today my bike decided to give up on me. V-belt or the clutch plates started slipping and I barely got home riding at 7000 rpm. I have a bunch of expletives I want to shout out loud but FML. To add to this I have an upcoming trip next weekend and I'm moving to a new place right before that. My brain is drawing blank now as I can foresee my entire month's paycheck will be vapourised in getting this sorted. Seriously FML.

That is all.
Had a student a month ago… his bike lasted for the basic safety check, parking lot maneuvers… and about 4km on the highway, and. Another 2km on city streets.

It is his labour of love… a ground up rebuild… it hurt to see that happen.
