Random Kijiji Seller

hey guys,

so i've been on the look out for a honda cbr250r as my first bike. i've been searching on different sites including kijiji. i've seen a few and most of the time, the sellers have been really cool. very open to questions and accommodating to times/dates for me coming to see the bike. i've recently emailed a seller located in london, on, about his bike. i believe i was polite and that my questions were justified. my question for the forum is that, am i not asking the proper questions? what questions do i need to ask in order to get information on the said bike? sometimes, a seller has a bike for sale, too far for me to just get up and go look at the bike and so i try to gather as much information i can before making the trip.

here is what i emailed him, (i've taken out my email/last names etc to cover my butt)

and this is the email i get as a reply. i just found it very sketch as to the fact that i asked 3 simple questions and he does not want to answer them. they are not open ended questions, they are one word answer type of questions. was that so hard?

i'm just trying to shed some light on this seller. he maybe be a cool person, i just thought handling business like this was kind of shady/shameful. if his attitude towards all potential buyers are like this, he's gonna need some luck on selling the bike.

Seller = ruhtard.

Pass.

My thoughts.. If he can't be bothered to spend 30 seconds writing a reply then he probably never cleaned or lubed the chain either.

3 grand, for a 250?!

Also, his reply was hilarious. What a ******.

Exactly this. People think buyers should just bow at their feet. If he can't reply then find one who will

Is that bad? It's a proper motor vehicle with low mileage. Not old. A $ isn't what it used to be. Have you priced out a decent bicycle lately?

I don't know, it's probably what the 2012's go for but personally... I'd buy a well taken care of bike a few years older and be a lot happier because I spent half the money on the same thing. But...that's just me.

Call Racer5/Speedworx was talking with Fawaz yesterday and he has a 250 for sale I believe. No details but at least you know who it is and not a scam.

I feel your message was just and polite indeed. perhaps just the request for more pictures could have rubbed him the wrong way because he does have many pics of the bike up. But still, he's trying to sell the bike, he should be willing to entertain a prospective buyer and answer their questions.

Id just keep looking and not think twice. if a seller gives you a bad vibe, best to move on....

Asking where did you buy the bike, giving your location and asking about the UVIP probably set off red flags. Didn't want to deal with whatever he thought the OP was fishing for. I would ask those types of questions in the next round after asking relevant questions about the bike itself.

Just look at another bike. Just get a ****** bike for your first & put more energy & money on the 2nd

Ask whatever questions you want to ask that you feel would make your buying situation easier. Some sellers are aholes and some buyers are aholes. If you are looking for a 250 then just keep looking you will find one that you want and someone who wants to sell it to you.

lol what an idiot. good luck hunting for your bike man i know its not easy

HOOOLLLLAAAA

It's obvious the seller has lots of interest in the bike, and is not interested in entertaining tire kickers-He's probably had as many bad and fake e-mails from the kijiji site- have you ever sold anything on there its crazy- best thing I have learned if you are interested is this

send a message like this:

I am very interested in your bike, I am a serious cash buyer. Can I have your number to call you in person to discuss and set up an appointment to see it.

that has worked for me several times.

thanks

i was looking for 250's but never saw the yellow one

if you go to the honda website and use the build/price function - a 2013 cbr 250 with tax, freight and pdi comes out to 4,486 and the abs version is 5,080

they are having a clearout so they are offering a $1000 off

priced at $3000 - depreciation is about 15% a year

I'm gonna go ahead and take a different angle here:

You seem like a pain in the bum tire kicker, the kind of guy that asks for receipts for each oil change or fill-up at the gas station. If I was getting interest already I wouldn't entertain those questions either. You also said you want "as much info as possible before coming to see the bike". You're from a couple hours away, I wouldn't want to deal with endless e-mails then having to accomodate your drive down to see it when you might not even buy it.

It's a seller's market for 250s, so I see where he's coming from.

Kjiji people, to me, reflects the rest of the population: While you will interact with a lot of fantastic and honest people, there are still a lot of idiots messing it up for the rest of us. I try very hard not to give my money to d-bags.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe the 250's came in yellow that year (or any 2010+ year). Do your due diligence!
