Rain ride

Rain or shine. Just like this morning. Don't enjoy it as much, but would rather ride than commute by TTC.

Usually the same, but I'll wait for generally warmer weather. I'm still willing to put up with the TTC to avoid the kind of rain/temperature we'll be getting this week.

Just invest in some rain gear and it's not so bad (besides how dirty your bike will get)

If it's raining, it's not freezing, I'm riding. Soap and water takes care of dirt...I wash at least once a year.

I ride rain or shine. You just have to be extra cautious with your braking distances and corner speed. Also you want a good visor that wont fog up.

Coming back to T.O. from Atlanta on my CB900F, I woke up in Virginia and it was so dark and black-skied that headlights were illuminating things in the daytime, y'know?
Oh yeah it was raining...
I had to make time, needed to be at work Monday A.M., so off I went!
The rain was so thick, so heavy, it was coming down the inside of my faceshield almost as much as the outside, heheh.
SHEETS of rain. Virginia is a big state. I rode Virginia in monsoon conditions for maybe 5 hours that day (coupla hours - meal - coupla more).
High-end one-piece yellow rainsuit simply couldn't cope...
Pretty sure I did almost 350 miles that day - but I was still in Virginia! Though closer to Canada of course.
Anything less than 800km (500 miles) per day when travelling is pretty slack, but not in those conditions, LoL. Man, my nuts were bathtub-wet...
Now THAT'S rain-riding. Yeesh, don't remind me! I recall it was pretty wretched.

I did 55km one way to work for 2 years rain or shine before I found a closer job. I still commute in the same conditions to work these days as well but I'm a little pickier. If it's cold and rainy I take the car otherwise it's fair game.

Yes. Next question?

Rain doesn't bother me at all.. its when the temps drop below 8c AND it rains.. then I'm out.. truck time..

The worst part about riding in the rain is the smell of the dead bugs cooking off your rad.. I don't know why the water seems to activate this, but it's gross.

What!?! lol I am going to have to watch for that :)

Yup - even with heated grips....8 and below is miserable in rain.

Biggest keep to staying dry is doing up the seals properly on your gear ( ask me how I know :( )

Here in Australia I don't bother with rain gear - generally it will rain every day in wet season so you get wet and then dry off...very happy with my Gaerne boots tho - they are waterproof and they breathe.

Many times. Not real happy about it. Inexplicably, rain riding can produce zen moments like I imagine throwing in the towel on life might.

it reminds me of the smell of dead fish sort of... or at least the fish cleaning areas down at the lake. I was always into waterskiing or riding the jetski myself... god damn fish.

I'm pretty sure the explanation is that it sucks ***... much like the state of mind towards life at the moment of said towel throw. :D

I only use my bike for leisure, so typically if it is raining I'll wait it out. That said, if it looks ok but there is a chance of rain I'll still go, and if I get wet while already riding I don't really care.
