Rain Gear favorites

I have a had a Teknic, lined two piece for about 20 yrs.Very dry and tough.I take my scorpion xdr dry liner with me on day rides.Works fine for light rain.

I have a 1 piece rain rider (little awkward to put on) it's quite light, I use plastic bags in my boots, and rubber gloves over my leather gloves. Went for a ride out east one year and rode for 14 days, 11 days of torrential downpour, and it all worked well, except when the sun would shine I would fry, I have a technics (sp) 2 piece, but it is so bulky I never use it. I always carry a k-way jacket just in case, when I don't have my rain gear.

BMW one piece. Was $100 and worth every penny. Rode 8 hours in the pouring rain and was dry and warm the entire time, not a drop of water got thru. You look like a fool in it (I have the bright yellow) but it works awesome.

My friend has the yellow BMW - makes him look like big bird... but he does stay completely dry.

I have a 2 piece frog toggs and my waist always seems to get wet if in the rain for extended periods..

1 piece is better for water proofness - if thats even a word.. but they are harder to get into... especially if its already raining and you are rushing to get them on.

Which frogg toggs model do people get? Is the cheapest one worth buying?

The cheap breathable one works good in light to medium rain but in heavier rain you will still have wet spots on your clothes.

MEC. They at least test them to see if they're really waterproof.

I bought a Klim Gore-tex touring jacket at the bike show in January. Its claim is " guaranteed to keep you dry" I would be great not having to lug along a rain jacket on trips. Now to get pants sorted out.

Have used the Road Toad's for the past couple seasons, not perfect, but pretty good. My biggest complaint is that there is no elastic to go under your boots to keep the pant legs from riding up.

Picked up a Teknic touring jacket and pants near the end of last season, supposed to be waterproof, will see soon enough. They market the stuff with a lifetime waterproof guarantee, don't know how true that is. At least the pants have an elastic to go under your boots

I have a Nitro rain suit that goes over my regular gear. Works fairly well, though it is fairly bulky. (I may have bought one size too large or something...) That said, I've found that after being in a decent rain for a while, some water gets in -- haven't figured out exactly where it's seeping in, but seems likely to be in the crotch area.

Otherwise, if I'm expecting rain for sure, especially in warmer weather, I have my Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants and jacket, which both have waterproof inner liners and have served me well so far.

Personally, I'm looking into getting one of the Aerostitch 2-piece suits this year as I need some more touring-oriented gear anyway. I hear they're pretty awesome, but not sure if there's anywhere locally to check them out prior to ordering online?

The frog toggs work well, unless your legs are long, then the water just drains straight into your boots.

I don't understand why more sport bike people don't complain about the length of the jacket itself. It's big on me, but it's still too short for a sport bike, when you lean forward the back comes up.

I still use the pants, but I use an MEC gore-tex jacket on top.
