Rad leak

I installed my brand spankin new OEM radiator today. I had to flush what looked like milk curds out of my coolant lines, the old rad was full of them too.

A close examination of the old rad leads me to believe it failed due to corrosion. Or, overpressure, like if the milk curds clogged the rad core pipes and they ruptured, but don't know if that's how it works. A few of the pipes were split open about 1/4".

When I drained the water out of the old rad it came out lookling like milk. Unlike the water in the overflow bottle which was clear and bright pink!

I filled it up with the required amount of Amsoil Coolant Boost and TAP water and hopefully she'll be good :(

See you peeps at the track (TMP) on Sunday :)

Sounds more like the previous owner put in some sort of "rad sealer" to bandaid a situation.

Looks like it gave way now.
Ahhh, never thought of that. I know for sure the radiator or at least the wiring around them had been removed before, neither of the fan wires were clipped into their factory zip-tie. How they didn't get sliced up by the fan blades I don't know, they were SO close to them.

When you drained the coolant the first time for trackdays what did it look like?

It was track prepped at a shop, so no idea.

Good news is, the new rad worked perfect on the track today :)

I know! AHHHHHHHH! :)

I'm draining it in the next day or two and putting real coolant in anyway, but for next season...
