Rad hose leak on fz8

Hi all,

I've had this thick substance accumulate on one of the radiator hoses on my FZ8 with 10k km on it and I can't figure out what it could be.
It's dripping onto the water pump inlet pipe, seemingly from one of the smaller hoses above it. Looking at the manual it looks like it might be the water pump breather hose.

Any ideas before I go any further with troubleshooting this?
Could be as simple as a loose clip, but does that make sense? Why is the liquid so thick?

My other guess was simply gunk from the front sprocket but that seems like a lot of it.

Chain lube.

If there is that much chain lube leaking out, you may want to pull the sprocket cover and clean out the goo there.

That's what I was hoping it is. Nothing else with that consistency would make sense.

Wow! Lol I bet there's all sorts of pebbles and sand in there that the chain scoops up on it's way by and drags it along like it's sandpaper as it goes through the rear sprocket... Lol just kidding probably not that bad.
