Racing on the DVP

I am constantly thinking it could be a great charity event if someone organized a rally race or something on public streets. Many cities have some great roads that you could do this well if the roads were closed and it was a legal event. Even out the country would be cool.

I would enter.

Probably too dangerous for bikes though with no run off.

Targa newfoundland???

$2,500 for riding on the DVP? Who is going to pay that much for that? You could find maybe 10 people willing to pay that much, netting you a cool $25,000

People who has money to burn, go and take the Porsche winter course at the Mecaglisse track http://www.mecaglisse.com/
4 days for $5,743.00 CAD

Or something along those lines...

The Isle of Wight in England has been trying to run it's own TT race, but it's just a pipe dream. Same goes for Cape Breton.

Isle of Man has it's own parliament, which is the key, unless Toronto become self governed no-one would ever sign off on this type of event.

Why the DVP, umm Calabogie is only 4 hours away....

Yeah, its called the Isle of Man.

DVP all out is a dumb idea........too dangerous.
Get to a track instead.

Now a targa style rally where riders are penalized for being early or late is a much better idea, putting stress on navigation, rider skill, and adherence to posted speed limits. Consistency, reliability, and care would win the race. I have competed in a few of these in my old car, was tons of fun.

Yeah and that **** is insane. No way anyone in North America would take that kind of liability.

Silverstate Classic in Nevada? Jim Peruto recently broke the public highway land speed record here with 217.5 MPH average speed (244mph top speed) over a highway route that is 140 km long.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to go to the track or the drag strip?

Other then there are no mile long plus tracks anywhere around here.

There's a seam in the apex of almost every corner. That would make it interesting, we could bet on how far the squid will make it on and off the bike.

only way the lefties would have it is if it were E-bikes lol.

but it has to be for a cause im sure...

honestly this city is plagued with causes, they shut down the most busiest highways for the dumbest reasons...
if you want to walk for this, or that. use ****ing yonge st..not the HIGH****INGWAYS

and no offense to the cause, but seriously...take it somewhere else.

I am however, down to race up and down the dvp for breasts

....Cali as in socal...?

As one who lived there, the term Cali is NOT used to refer to SoCal or California; it is SoCal, NorCal etc. Cali is only used by people unfamiliar with the place who try to sound hip or cool.
