Racer5/SOAR race weekend questions

Just an FYI - re one of the points above "the main bathroom is on city water "- All of our water is city water so all bathrooms faucets etc are the same water. All of our bathrooms are on sanitary sewer, and we also have a dumping station in our campground area beside the main gate.

On another note We will be pouring our curbing this Thurdsday - rather than regular style turtles they will be flush with the track and then rise up 2 inches in a straight line to the back (2ft wide) a 1/12 slope with the last 6 inches being rumble stripped. We have also added an extra 2 ft of width (flat) on the left side of the exits of the turns onto the older asphalt section ( the one by the pit washroom bldg and the one everbody says visually looks like you are exiting onto a sidewalk) just to give you a little more room for error. This curbing design adds a little width in the corners doesn't affect your ability to lean (no bumping knees of the turtle) and adds definition to the turns. If you hit the rumble strip backoff you've gone to tight.

That sounds fantastic. The Sidewalk dance on the Superbikes will be brought out to the rumble strips, should make for cool pictures. I'm sure we will see some times in the sub 1:20's on Long track now! See you in a few weeks

I am going to come out and watch some races this year. Which are the closest ones?

For you - in Pickering? Shannonville and Mosport are closest. For Mosport, 2 choices, the national series www.csbk.ca or the vintage series www.vrra.ca and for Shannonville, the national series www.csbk.ca has one round June 22-24 and the regional series www.shannonville.com has several. Schedules are all available to be looked up.

I'm taking the Racer5, 4 day class end of May as well. I'm wondering if I should bring my track bike (lost era hwt), or should I put the idea of racing in another class out of my head until I have more track time?

If you have room I'd bring the bike along.

How was the course and the camping?
I am going in 2 weeks for the Racer5 4 day class.

Course was a blast. The 125's were lots of fun and easy to learn on. I could've got myself in a lot more trouble with the 600's seeing the speed difference. We had a bunch of crashes thru the 4 day course. Only one guy was able to hit the $500 limit..Highsided at the end of a long straightaway. 4 or 5 others lowsided. I think the highest cost was 250 range..some as little as $20. WAY cheaper than if you bin the 600's. Lots of room to camp, the showers there are actually really good. hotter than I have at home! I cheated and took my motorhome so I got to stay in style but there were tents up for the weekend too. You're going up on the bike weekend, should be insane! Wish I could make it up for that weekend! Bring lots of Gatorade (I went thru a case on my first day). Grand Bend is only about 5 min away so if you need anything the stores are right there. Lots of places to eat in town as well. Don't forget your camera and gopro if you have them. The race at the end is a blast too.
Words of advice!
DON'T watch the starter with the flag walk off the track at the start! LOL Did my first wheelie on that start!

If you wanna see what its like, I've posted a video of the entire race from my gopro

^ LINK ... If that was the Racer5 group during the first SOAR race weekend, you folks did great!

GF and I are in for this weekend so good to hear facilities are good. Racer 5 4 day course as well so can't wait. Planing on driving up wed night and camping. Got to call and make sure that showing up at 10pm will be ok.

You'll have no problems getting in at that time. I arrived around that time in my RV and had no problems. Oh, except the front signs don't have lights. U turn in a 40' motorhome isnt something you wanna do.
Lots of space for camping. you'll want to make sure you're not close to the pits..the generators arnt a lot of fun. GrandBend is 5-10 min down the road, lots of places to eat and shop if you need anything.
You'll have a blast on those little bikes..Crap in the straights but they are very forgiving.. Bring lots to drink! I drank a case of Gatorade each day.

Squat much? Don't underestimate 4 days of track time, even on the 125's lol.
