Racer 5 VIP track days. June 27th & 28th

Anyone got any experience with the Racer 5 VIP track days?

I noticed they have trackdays at CTMP Driver Development Centre on June 27th & 28th & I was thinking of signing up for the Saturday one but I'm not sure about riding Mosport CTMP with my limited experience (2 trackdays completed this year at TMP) although the website states that Racer 5 riding coaches are in attendance & they appear to have 3 riding groups: green, yellow & red so hopefully one is a novice group.

FYI, green group is full for June 27. I am on the waitlist myself. I might go to yellow though since the green group has quite a few 125 rentals.

It's not the big track, its the DDT track.

You'll be fine at the smaller track.

OK, thanks Chaos.
I'm thinking the Green group is the novice group.
I might try Sunday the 28th then as I highly doubt I can run with the Intermediate group at my experience level.

Thanks Jay.

Did one of their days at the end of August last year, after having done their 3-stage intro program in June. Signed up for both Saturday and Sunday next weekend.

The green group is largely filled with recent students renting the 125s (as I had done), as it is relatively cheap and everything is taken care of by Racer5. You'd be just fine with only a few days experience as the pace isn't crazy with the smaller bikes, and the track is tight.

I'll be taking my 250 to run in the green (novice) group both days, but will see how things progress. Their coaches offer great help, picking up the track lines and working on your riding. It's not teaching or instruction like in their classes, but they point you in the right direction. You can get a tow around the track or have someone tail you to get some input after a few laps, and they're willing to answer any questions you could have.

Going to be there on the 27th with a bunch of friends.
Asked Shereen about group sizes - apparently yellow is about half full and red has less than 10 riders as of yesterday. Come on out and play!

?? Bunch of friends ? Who's all coming from your KW camp ? I'll be there and yellow group isn't too bad of a group.. Green is kinda tough cause there's plenty of 125s and not much passing so everyone gets bunched up behind one another.. The tracks lots of fun and there's plenty of people around that will help you out..

Smergy, Rico636 (in Racer5 continuation school), Dan (not on forum), Omar (Ould, from Toronto but a friend of mine) and I.

As for people helping each other out - use the freebie coaches - they're well worth it!

freebie coaches?

Coaches (lead you around the track, give you some pointers, but not at a school level), technicians for minor repair and suspension set up and catered lunch are all part of the entry fee.

Will be there as well with 3 other friends doing the continuation course. If all goes well I'll go back on my GSXR750 in August. I think Rico636 might be the same one in our continuation group.

Will be there on Sunday, debating if I can handle also a Sat. My girlfriend can't join on Sat and if anyone else is going alone let me know we can help each other out with rear stands and whatnot :)

Do you know if these VIP track days run rain or shine?
Cant see anything on the Racer5 website saying one way or the other.

It's on the Sign-Up form;

"ALL RACER5 EVENTS WILL BE HELD RAIN OR SHINE. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS AVAILABLE DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER UNLESS THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE SUCH THAT THE TRACK OFFICIALS CLOSE THE TRACK. IF THE WEATHER FORECAST INDICATES THAT RAIN MAY BE A POSSIBILITY ON YOUR TRACK DATE, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU COME PREPARED TO RIDE IN THE RAIN. THIS SHOULD INVOLVE AT MINIMUM:

• A MOTORCYCLING RAIN SUIT TO WEAR OVER YOUR LEATHERS
• SEVERAL SETS OF DRY CLOTHES AND SOCKS, SEVERAL TOWERS, SOMETHING WARM TO DRINK, ETC."

SOCKS, SEVERAL TOWERS, SOMETHING WARM TO DRINK, ETC.

Looks like we will be dry until around 2pm on Saturday. It's not often that the weather sites give 100% of rain but that's what they are all saying after that time. I guess a morning on the track is better then nothing.
