Questions about changing ownership of bike

Just give them your car policy number

And if I get pulled over? Any problems?
It would save me a lot of hassle if I can just give my car policy number, because I'm leaving country and putting bike back into storage anyways. Just want to get a couple of things done to it before I leave, while under a trip permit.

Ya you would likely be screwed lol. Only purpose was to get some plates from the ministry, you can take the chance and ride it over to storage or have it towed/pick up etc.

I've heard that if you take out insurance and then cancel the policy shortly after, but still have a slip saying its valid.. it's impossible for a police officer to verify that policy number is active or not? Because they simply don't have the technology or resources to do so. Is this correct? Can anybody verify?

they can verify. and don't ride without insurance.

Everywhere I have read says it's not possible, and that they can only look to see if you have a valid insurance slip. I just need a trip permit without the hassle of doing a month insurance.
FYI I'm not trying to generally ride without insurance here, in case you're replying with inaccurate information due to moral values.

The insurance company may notify mto that you cancelled or the cop will call to verify if he expects Tom foolery. The ticket will cripple you if you're caught.

There is a database in Ontario now accessible by most police forces. The database essentially ties your plate number to a registry of insurers. If you cancel/don't renew/default on payments, the insurance company then updates the database and the police will see whether you have valid insurance or not just by running your plate.

This system is used on all vehicles except motorcycles.
The only way an officer can verify if your slip is valid for your bike is to call the company and ask.
