Question on US Bikes

You simply don't get it. I bought my bike from the States *mint* 2.5 years ago. I can still easily sell it to that "smaller" interested pool of people for more than I bought it for. That's how the market works. And the poll that you posted is just shows that people who have over-spent on their Canadian cars simply want a way to get back at smarter people who paid less for the same car.

Anyway, I hope I answered OP's question and concerns.

No YOU simply don't get it :lmao:

Slight twist, but what about buying a bike (new) from a US dealership? Had the 2013 CBR600RRA came out in red here I would have bought one, but we only got tricolour (US got red). If I don't like the RRA colour in 2014, I'm thinking about importing a new 2013 in red while they are hopefully on clearance for the newer model/year.

Can anyone else confirm this? I did ask a service tech at Clarington Powerhouse this question, and he said as soon as it is imported to Canada it looses the US warranty as well (since it is no longer registered in that country).

The service tech is telling you BS... If you import a Canadian bike to the US you lose the warranty.. But for whatever reason American Honda will still cover warranty issues on a bike you import to Canada but you have to bring the bike back to a US dealer. If you don't believe me call the American Honda 1 800 # they will tell you the same thing.. I paid $7800 for a 2008 CBR1000RR with 8000km and quite a few mods 3 years ago for a USA bike that I bought in Ontario. The second year I had the bike I started getting a crank noise and Honda extended the warranty on crank for 5 years because they were aware of the crank issues with some 2008-2010 1000rr's.. I'd never buy another US bike. I bought a 2012 CBR1000rr last August and I bought it from a Canada dealer. What I would have saved just wasn't worth the hassle of importing a new bike.

Don't think there is anything wrong with purchasing a U.S. bike here or importing one yourself. However, the one captioned by the O.P. is definitely sketchy.

I agree. Beyond vehicles who don't swap speedometer units cleanly (like VW), the vehicles are equal. It would just be plain dumb for someone to pay more for a vehicle in Canada just because ...
